(CNN) - While students in a South Carolina school participated in the National School Walkout this week, a custodian helped herself to their cash, police said. The incident occurred at Richland Northeast High School on Wednesday. Aisha Evans, a custodian at the school, went into a classroom while students were outside and rummaged through three book bags, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said. In all, Evans stole $180, the department said.

A collection of keys hanging from Sharon Crile's belt jingled as she came down the hallway of Haven's middle school on Tuesday morning. For the past 20 years, she has done a variety of tasks - from cleaning up vomit to refinishing gymnasium floors in an effort to keep the schoolhouse sparkling for the students. "Sharon comes in early and is really a person who has gone the extra mile," said Patrick Call, superintendent of Haven USD 312. Over the years, she has been moved to different buildings, worked split shifts and even took a turn driving the school bus....

(ST. GEORGE)—Charges have been filed against a custodian at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School in St. George for assaulting a 16-year-old girl. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Richard Burditt is charged with felony forcible sex abuse, lewdness and voyeurism, among other charges. Police say they became aware of the relationship, which occurred when the girl was at Sunrise Ridge, when the girl’s mother called police. Officers say Burditt and the girl had been sexually involved for more than two years, and that he admitted to the relationship when questioned.
