G.K. Chesterton said that "when people stop believing in orthodox religion, rather than believe in nothing, they will believe in anything". One of the ersatz religions which fills the void in recent years is belief in Catastrophic Man-Made Global Warming. It claims to be based on science. But it has all the characteristics of an eschatological cult. It has its own priesthood and ecclesiastical establishment - the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; they alone can interpret its sacred scriptures - the Assessment Reports; it anathematises as 'deniers' anyone who casts doubt on its certainties; above all it predicts...

It is impossible to understand the Obama administration's uniquely hostile treatment of Fox News without understanding the self-image of the Obama team. On the one hand, the targeting of Fox News for isolation and surveillance suggests an administration so lacking in competence that it cannot tolerate criticism or scrutiny. On the other, the attacks suggest hubris, a confidence that few would ever object to its conduct. That contradiction has a religious quality to it. Indeed, President Barack Obama has led an administration that has, at times, been more of a religious movement than a governing body. Obama has made miraculous...

The North Miami Public Library has dedicated part of its program room to a 102-year-old woman who made history when she waited for hours to cast her ballot at last year's presidential election... Her story of patience and perseverance to stand in line for several hours went national with help from President Obama, as Victor sat proudly in the First Lady's box at the State of the Union address.

Phelps is the sixth of 13 children of Fred Phelps, the notorious pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. After Nate left his family in the dead of night, he moved to California and later to Canada. As his family’s notoriety grew, he began telling his story and became a vocal campaigner against religious extremism and child abuse. . Nate left Westboro in 1976 and says he has carried the emotional scars ever since. When he was young, Nate, now 53, recalls his mother keeping him and his elder brother Mark away from their father as much as possible....

N. Korea's 'hatred of Christians' puts 70,000 believers in prison SANTA ANA, Calif. (BP) -- Persecution of Christians in North Korea shows no sign of abating under the country's new leader, Kim Jong-Un, according to a report by the worldwide ministry Open Doors. "The fanatical regime, which rules the destitute country of 24 million people with a proverbial iron fist, has a special hatred for Christians," Jerry Dykstra of the California-based Open Doors USA noted. "North Korea is in a league of its own when it comes to persecution of Christians." Dykstra's and other reports parallel incidents in North Korea...

James Todd thought he found heaven on earth. He had a wife, four kids and a high-paying job as a computer programmer. After nine years of marriage, however, he still worried something was missing. “We were hungry, we wanted more,” he said. He and his wife, Jennifer, feared they were not living their faith to the fullest. Both Christians, they had become disenfranchised with their church. Then one night, while searching the Internet, they discovered a YouTube channel for a community called the “Fellowship of the Martyrs.” It was founded by a man named Doug Perry. “My first impression was,...

In an interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts aired this morning, First Lady Michelle Obama recalled the tragic death of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton who was shot and killed in Chicago after performing during the President’s Inauguration celebration in Washington D.C. “She was caught in the line of fire because some kids had some automatic weapons they didn’t need,” the First Lady explained. “I just don’t want to keep disappointing our kids in this country. I want them to know that we put them first.” Chicago police reported, however, that Pendleton was shot by a man who “opened fire with...

The rationale for the federal government’s “Head Start” program is to give disadvantaged students a boost with their school work. Sadly, though, a recently completed research study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reveals that students enrolled in the program actually do worse than similarly disadvantaged peers not in the program. The biggest deficits show up in math and behavior. Secretary Kathleen Sebelius urged that “we should not read too much into these findings. Given our society’s widespread access to computers, calculators, and cash registers that can do the math for us, proficiency in math may not...

Dick Morris is gone from Fox News. Meanwhile, Karl Rove has been given a new multiyear contract. But why? A Fox News spokesman said only that the network chose not to renew Morris' contract. It's not hard to figure out why. Morris was glaringly wrong on the outcome of the 2012 presidential contest, predicting often and loudly that Mitt Romney would win in a romp. Funny thing is that Karl Rove was conspicuously wrong about the presidential results, too. Rove just wasn't as vociferous as Morris, except on Election Night. Even respected conservative elections analyst and commentator Michael Barone called...

JEFFREY BROWN: All right, the week began with the inauguration. We all talked on Monday. It ends with the White House appointment of a new chief of staff, Mark. What does the new team, what does the language you heard this week tell you about the president that Barack Obama wants to be? MARK SHIELDS: I think, like all re-elected presidents, he sees a mandate, an expanded vision of a mandate from the electoral victory. But he realizes time is short. And I think he is not showing the same level of patience with the Congress that he showed in...

While many believe substance should trump style when it comes to the first lady, there is no denying the impact Michelle Obama has on American style. So when Mrs. Obama debuted a new haircut Thursday (with bangs, no less!) via her freshly launched official Twitter account (on the first day, no less) it was sure to become a major style moment. The fact that the reveal also occured on her 49th birthday didn't hurt when it came to creating interest in the new 'do. The first lady's second official tweet showed her chatting with inaugural citizen co-chair David Hall in...

Tom Cruise will save the world from aliens — not on the big screen but in real life.

Cruise would later come to believe that in the hierarchy of Scientology, he was No. 3, behind only the founder, the late L. Ron Hubbard (known as LRH) and No. 2 David Miscavige, who goes by COB, for Chairman of the Board of the Religious Technology Center.

“Room for smarm in your latte?” Isn’t there something creepy about Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz having [in Politico's words] “asked his Washington-area employees to write ‘Come Together’ on each customer cup today, tomorrow and Friday, as a gesture to urge leaders to resolve the fiscal cliff”? Did Schultz take a poll of his employees–sorry, “partners,” he calls them–before ordering pressuring asking them to join in this lobbying effort? What if he were, say, the CEO of Chick-fil-A and he “asked” his “partners” to write “Preserve the Family” on the outside of cups and containers.

[The Occupiers] interrupted their vacation Tuesday to pay a Christmas Day visit to U.S. troops and their families at a military base in Hawaii. The Obamas' visit to Anderson Hall at Marine Corps Base Hawaii was not on his official public schedule, but it did not appear to come as a surprise to those on the base. One patron told a pool reporter that a substantial line built up in anticipation of the president's visit. (It's the fifth year in a row Obama has dropped in on Christmas diners at this particular mess hall.)

- An independent review of the September 11 attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi released Tuesday cited "systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies" at the State Department. The attacks killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. The failures resulted in a security plan "that was inadequate for Benghazi and grossly inadequate to deal with the attack that took place," the 39-page, unclassified version of the report concluded.

I'd like to pose a question to the defenders of the three 'person' Trinity:Matt 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:34 Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" 35 And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will...

I was in Kyoto, Japan in 1997 for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It was there that I first observed for myself the almost religious fervor of those who subscribe to the global warming orthodoxy; who accept, as an article of faith, that Earth’s 6.9 billion human inhabitants are dangerously overheating the planet. The Kyoto summit wasn’t about drafting an international treaty based on science. It was about promoting theology based on radical environmentalism. So it continues to this very week with a new study, published in the journal “Science,” reported uncritically in the mainstream media, warning...

http://www.lds.org/church/news/mormonor ... c?lang=engHow about being straight up and saying that Mormons put on costumes and chant rituals in secret buildings that only 10% of gross earnings paid as "tithes" allow entrance? Mormonism wants people to think they are normal that they are just Christians like everyone else. Each year they get rid of more and more of their embarrassing doctrines - or doctrines that aren't politically correct anymore. Apologist attack dogs fight any critics on technicalities. Mormonism has one thing that works for them - and that is the funneling of cash from members to the Cult coffers. This is...
