I've always liked Ted Cruz, he is the Republican who I agree with most on the issues.  He's free market, pro-life and for a measured foreign policy (less aggressive than Marco Rubio but more aggressive than Rand Paul).  Most importantly, he would stick to his ideals despite pressure from the establishment.  He may have made some tactical errors because of that but I couldn't help but admire him for his idealism.  He has been the candidate that I would have voted for if I didn't care at all about electability.  Unfortunately, his interview last night with Megyn Kelly unmasked him...
  • Why Cruz could make some noise in the GOP primary

For the first time in 40 years, a Republican presidential primary in Texas will be something more than an afterthought. The 2016 Texas primary will be the grand prize in a Super Tuesday sweepstakes that should define several presidential campaigns — none more than Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Back in March, when Cruz announced his candidacy, I discounted the possibility that his culture-warrior rhetoric would play outside this state, and wrote him off as a colorful source of bulletin-board material for Democrats. Five months later, I still consider Cruz an unlikely GOP nominee, but it’s now possible to detect a...

Bexar County Republicans who support U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz for president turned out in force Tuesday to hear his wife, Heidi, plead for financial support in a race she described as winnable. The crowd of more than 200 loyalists at Bexar GOP headquarters was already on the Cruz bandwagon in terms of policy. They applauded Heidi Cruz’s denunciations of President Barack Obama’s executive orders, the Affordable Care Act he championed, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, the Iran nuclear deal, gay marriage and Planned Parenthood. So the candidate’s wife — whose professional financial savvy has made her an integral part of...

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was seemingly unhappy with a question on immigration Tuesday night from Fox News host Megyn Kelly, telling her it was something he’d expect to be asked from a “liberal journalist.” Kelly asked the Texas senator the same question Donald Trump faced on the cable-news network Monday. “If you have a husband and a wife who are illegal immigrants, and they had two children here who are American citizens — would you deport all of them? Would you deport the American citizen children?” she asked. Cruz replied that politicians should first tackle immigration by focusing on...

Texas Senator and Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused Fox News Channel anchor Megyn Kelly of asking “the question every mainstream media liberal journalist wants to ask” and “the question Barack Obama wants to focus on” on Tuesday’s “Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel. Cruz was asked about his support for ending birthright citizenship and whether this means he favors amending the Constitution, he answered, “Well, as a policy matter, Megyn, it doesn’t make any sense anymore, that people who are here illegally, that their children would have automatic citizenship. That what that does is it serves...

Ted Cruz was asked tonight the same question BillO asked Trump last night, if he would deport two illegal parents who have children that are American Citizens. But Cruz refused to answer it the way Megyn Kelly wanted him to. She accused him of dodging the question, but Cruz responded that the question that she and other mainstream media journalists want to ask is a distraction from actually fixing the problem of illegal immigration and then explained how to fix it. It was awesome. Watch:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), told pastors Tuesday that he would do his best to make sure the government could not be funded if that funding included any taxpayer support for Planned Parenthood -- but that any attempt to blame him for a government shutdown that could result would be "nonsense." Cruz, who has looked to harness the support of social conservative and evangelical voters for his presidential campaign, is taking a lead role in a nationwide campaign to end federal funding for the organization. In a conference call that more than 100,000 pastors received invitations to participate in, Cruz said...

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa is preparing to host Republican presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas Tuesday night. Cruz will serve as the keynote speaker at the annual Lincoln Reagan dinner, organized by the Tuscaloosa County Republican Party chapter. The event is sold out. Although the dinner boasts a long list of well-known keynote speakers, chapter president Jim Zeanah says this is first time a current presidential candidate has headlined the event. Zeanah says organizers booked Cruz before they realized just how popular he would be with Alabamians. "The Tea Party folks from all over the state...

Robinson was one of the founders of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and Citizens United, and has served as CEO of YAF for over thirty years. He initiated and directed the effort to save President Reagan’s Presidential Home (aka, the Western White House), Rancho del Cielo. On Friday night, while the political media was transfixed watching Donald Trump's in-all-ways-secular stump ramble in Mobile, Ala., Ted Cruz was holding a deliberately religious rally in Des Moines. Evangelical voters were always meant to be a linchpin of Cruz's presidential bid, and as our Katie Zezima and Tom Hamburger write, the Des Moines event was not shy about making that pitch. Blasting Planned Parenthood and lamenting the "persecution" of business owners sued for denying services to same-sex couples, Cruz was clearly trying to do two things: Plant his flag as the Republican crusader -- and prompt religious voters to...

MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 25, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the Bible, Exodus 18:21 teaches Christians when picking leaders to "select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." David Jeffers, author of "Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland" (tinyurl.com/qb63fpr), in his latest video (youtu.be/ZmKeXj91Wfo) says such a man is Ted Cruz. "Ted Cruz has already shown his willingness to defend Christian's 1st Amendment rights, that he will stand for truth by calling the leader of his Senate caucus a liar, and that he will stand against what Cruz calls 'the Washington Cartel.'" ANDERSON, South Carolina — Three presidential candidates came to Rep. Jeff Duncan’s Faith and Freedom BBQ here in South Carolina’s northwest corner on Monday, but only Sen. Ted Cruz brought a crowd with him.Cruz, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker were the three featured speakers at the conservative congressman’s annual cattle call, and there were supporters here backing each of the candidates. But most of the estimated 2,000 people seated around tables at the Anderson Civic Center came for Cruz, easily identifiable by the red “courageous conservative” shirts they wore.Winning the Feb. 27 primary in South Carolina,...

Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Friday sent a letter to President Obama calling for the release of the Department of Defense's (DoD) risk assessment of Russia's violations of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF). Sen. Ted Cruz will hold a telephone town hall with church leaders Tuesday to discuss his plan for defunding Planned Parenthood. "Recently, all of us have seen the videos of the behind-the-scenes dealings at the Planned Parenthood facilities, activities that all of us find horribly offensive," Cruz said in a video invitation to the national conference call. "But even more appalling is that we as taxpayers are funding these activities." Cruz has been an outspoken critic of Planned Parenthood subsidies since a series of undercover videos shed light on the organization's policy of donating fetal tissue to researchers. "Only our...

The conservative 2014 Senate challengers have endorsed the candidate who, like them, hopes to be a vessel for anti-establishment frustration.Ted Cruz's presidential campaign may not get many endorsements from Senate colleagues. Not coincidentally, the Texas senator is racking up support from primary challengers who tried but failed to unseat some of those senators last year. Tennessee's Joe Carr, Mississippi's Chris McDaniel, and South Carolina's Lee Bright, three conservatives who opposed longtime GOP senators in 2014 primaries, have all backed Cruz for president. It's a small part of Cruz's effort to do next year what those candidates did last year: serve...
