Lena Dunham isn't the most reliable of narrators, but the New York Times is reporting that she, along with bigshot magazine editor Tina Brown, both warned the Hillary Clinton campaign all about Harvey Weinstein's depredations and got ignored.  Hillary Clinton says she had never heard of any Weinstein problems until she read them in the news.  Now, all by herself, Dunham might be suspected of publicity-hounding at this late date, but because Brown is making the same charge, she probably isn't.

Embattled Sen. Al Franken will make an announcement Thursday, his office told reporters, as calls for the Minnesota Democrat's resignation rapidly gained momentum Wednesday in dramatic fashion. Twenty-three Democratic senators -- twelve female and eleven male including the second-ranking Democrat in chamber -- called on Franken to resign as allegations of sexual harassment against him continue to mount. Republican Sen. Susan Collins also called on Franken to quit.

A top Senate Dem says he expects Franken to resign Thursday shortly after Franken’s office said he would be making an announcement Thursday. Democrat Senator Ron Wyden tweeted,”I expect that Senator Franken will announce his resignation tomorrow. It is the right thing to do given this series of serious allegations.”

Geraldo Rivera tweeted an apology to actress Bette Midler after she posted a video of an interview from 1991 where she accused him of drugging her and groping her in the 1970s. Rivera said he recalled the incident much different than the way Midler does, but he still apologizes for his actions.

Russell Simmons is stepping down from his companies in the wake of an accusation of harassment and sexual assault. Simmons, the founder of hip-hop music label Def Jam Recordings and CEO of Rush Communications, released a statement on Thursday after screenwriter Jenny Lumet accused him of forcing her to have sex with him in 1991. She detailed the encounter in a guest column published by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. An Army veteran is accusing Sen. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), who is embroiled in a sexual misconduct scandal, is hospitalized in his home state due to stress, according to two local reports on Thursday. "I just spoke with Monica Conyers on the phone and we want you to know that the congressman is resting comfortably in an area hospital. He's doing OK, as well as he can be expected for a gentleman that's approaching 90 years of age," Sam Riddle, a Conyers consultant, told WDIV TV.
