MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Friends of Albert "AJ" Soles of Tabor City are in shock after Myrtle Beach police say he was shot and killed outside of the Cook Out on North Kings Highway early Friday morning. "He didn't deserve any of this," Ashley Azzarella said. She said Soles was her best friend. "I feel like he's the best person I've ever met in my life and been friends with. I'm so lucky to have known him," she said. "He's a huge teddy bear and he would never hurt anybody." Friends said the death is especially heartbreaking because he...

Sorry for the vanity post, but I have a day off tomorrow (first in awhile) and was thinking about grilling steaks. Would love to hear from FReepers about their favorites. Porterhouse? Filet? Sirloin/sirloin tips? Ribeye? Marinated? Rubbed?

Two fast food employees have been fired after one of them refused to serve a police officer who wanted to order food from the establishment. The incident occurred at the Cook Out restaurant in Roxboro, North Carolina when Kenneth Horton, an army vet and veteran police officer, visited the chain restaurant and was denied service by the cashier. "We're saddened that an employee denied service to a police officer. We promote unity. The public here knows that. And, unfortunately, this incident has created a divide but it is only because of a small action that could have been avoided," said...

The one foot long Giant Isopods live up to 6,000ft down on the seabed where there is no light. In the pitch black and cold they survive by feasting on dead and decaying fish and other marine animals. Isopods have been unchanged for 160 million years and the creatures are sure to be popular attractions when they go on display. Experts at the UK's Sea Life Centre parks organised for nine of them to be transported from the US where they had been caught in lobster nets in the Atlantic. Each was individually wrapped in wet hessian and newspaper before...

I did some grilling today and made some "Bubba Burgers" and thought they were excellent! I was just wondering if anyone else has ever tried them. I cooked two different kinds the sweet onion and origional. Onions usually give me really bad heartburn, but i ate a sweet onion one by accident and it didn't disagree with me, it tasted great and no heartburn! :) Well.. just wondering if anyone else has ever tried these wonderful burgers...
