Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways.

Alec Baldwin has been fired by MSNBC, sources say. The rage-aholic’s weekly show, “Up Late With Alec Baldwin,” has been canceled because of the actor’s foul-mouthed rant at a photographer he called a nasty name.

A simple request: Please stop calling Sarah Palin names. If you find her politics repellant and her intellectual gifts lacking, fine. Just say so. But stop with the verbal abuse and the debased revenge fantasies. Palin has always had a gift for making her critics crazy. After eternally angry Alec Baldwin let loose his latest anti-gay rant — calling a Post photographer a “c–ks–king f-g” — the cable network yanked its flailing “Up Late” chat-show host off the air for two episodes starting Friday night. Terrell police have captured the man suspected in multiple overnight shootings that left five people dead by Tuesday morning. Now that he has successfully defended himself from criminal charges brought against him by the state of Florida for the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman is going to resume a lawsuit he filed several months earlier against NBC News. Launched in the midst of the state prosecution against him by a separate civil team, the lawsuit is a defamation claim alleging that NBC deliberately altered an audio recording so as to make Zimmerman appear to be racist.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) went after the Obama administration hard on Sunday, charging that the IRS targeting was “directly ordered from Washington” and deeming White House Press Secretary Jay Carney a “paid liar.” Responding to the criticism on Monday, Joe Scarborough didn’t approve of Issa’s approach. It’s simply making him look bad, he argued. “Darrell Issa hurts himself and his cause more than Jay Carney or the White House when he calls him a paid liar,” Scarborough asserted. Grenell asked Murray yesterday if he was married to an Obama appointee and why it was not disclosed. NBC-owned television stations in cities across the nation just teamed up with a nonprofit “journalism” group funded by a billionaire husband and wife team who not only spent millions campaigning for President Obama but also topped donor lists to groups like ACORN and MoveOn.org. The nonprofit, ProPublica, will contribute to the news operations of all NBC owned-and-operated stations, including those in such cities as Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia, the network announced Monday. Comcast’s upcoming shareholders meeting in Philadelphia may see a bit of a disruption. A Tea Party group has sent out 60,000 invitations in an effort to plan a protest at the meeting, specifically expressing dissatisfaction with the conglomerate’s forward-leaning cable network MSNBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As the report notes, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts is scheduled to meet with investors on May 15 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Perelman Theater.
