Susan 'Medea' Benjamin threatened to “make a scandal” against the government of Egypt if she was deported. Sure enough as Egypt enforced the deportation order against Benjamin on Tuesday she took to Twitter and then the radio and other forms of media to accuse the Egyptian government of brutally beating her and breaking her arm. “Help. They broke my arm. Egypt police.” Benjamin tweeted from Cairo. Benjamin’s inflammatory charge was reported by sympathetic U.S. media outlets from the AP and Reuters to the New York Times, CNN, Huffington Post and Democracy Now! Creating scandal and making accusations of abuse against...

Medea Benjamin was detained and allegedly attacked by police in Egypt before being deported. The far left radical has a long history of supporting the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. Several news accounts report that Susan ‘Medea’ Benjamin, founder of the terrorist support group Code Pink, has been deported from Egypt to Turkey after being barred from entering the country. Benjamin was attempting to use Egypt as a staging ground to support Hamas-led Gaza as she has done in previous visits. Code Pink also worked with the Muslim Brotherhood in past trips to Cairo to overthrow the government of former President Hosni...

Recently, The New American has reported on the efforts by radio talk show host Mark Levin and others to push for a constitutional convention (a convention of the states, in the parlance of the proponents). In his new book, Levin argues that such a convention is the last hope “to reform the federal government from its degenerate, bloated, imperial structure back to its (smaller) republican roots.” Unfortunately, many otherwise well-educated and well-meaning conservatives have succumbed to Levin’s siren song and they have gone so far as to deny the constitutionality of nullification and to insist that an Article V convention...

Obama bundler Jodie Evans and Code Pink, the leftist group she co-leads, have been found to be working with a group whose leaders have recently been declared terrorists and al Qaeda supporters by the Treasury Department. Demonstrators gathered at the property of Sen. Dianne Feinstein this weekend to protest possible U.S. military action in Syria. Protesters with the group Code Pink set up camp outside Feinstein's San Francisco home with tents, sleeping bags and banners. Demonstrations also included a light show, a candlelight vigil and a march to the Golden Gate Bridge. "We who came here today to camp out are saying to the people of the Muslim world we care about your lives," Code Pink activist Toby Blome said. "Your lives are as important as ours. Children shouldn't be killed. There's no excuse to put...

WASHINGTON -- Anti-war protesters gathered outside the White House on Saturday to voice their opposition to a U.S. military strike in Syria, calling their picket line one that Congress shouldn't cross as it prepares to vote on the issue. At least 150 protesters picketed the sidewalk in front of the White House and marched to Capitol Hill, chanting slogans like "They say more war; we say no war" and carrying signs that said a war on Syria would be "Built on a Lie." "There is a grass-roots uprising against the Democrats and the Republicans," said Medea Benjamin, a founder of...

The White House today deployed Samantha Power, the former human rights activist turned UN ambassador, to try to convince President Barack Obama's liberal base to support strikes against Syria. Speaking at the Centre for American Progress, a prominent liberal think tank, Ms Power acknowledged "how ambivalent Americans are" at the prospect of another Middle Eastern conflict but argued there is "something different" about chemical warfare which demanded action. Ms Power worked her way through a list of progressive objections to Mr Obama's plan for intervention, saying: "Those of us who are arguing for the limited use of force must justify...

The Obama administrationÂ’s unpopular bid to bomb Syria over chemical weapons attacks has given the leftist anti-American group Code Pink new life from sympathetic media and new fans on the right. Screengrab by Breitbart Code Pink waved blood-red painted hands in the air behind Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at the House hearing on Syria this Wednesday. Conservatives opposed to waging war on Syria have taken to Twitter cheering Code Pink for the groupÂ’s protests during the joint testimony of Kerry, Hagel and Dempsey...

Gen. Martin Dempsey, the top Pentagon officer repeatedly warned against the costs and potential entanglements of military involvement in Syria. Now he's testifying on behalf of the White House. The nation's top military officer warned repeatedly in recent months that getting US military involved with Syria is a dangerous proposition... Did he change his mind or is he just doing the White House's bidding? In the past, he has made it clear that US military intervention could tip the balance of power in favor of Islamist rebels who don't necessarily have the interests of the United States at heart...

On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry testified before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs over possible military action against Syria. As he testified, members of the antiwar group Code Pink held up their hands, which had been painted red to signify bloody hands. They also wore signs reading “US Out of Syria.”

WASHINGTON — On the eve of American military intervention in Syria, the once-robust antiwar movement has stayed curiously silent. Activists who turned out thousands of protesters during the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq say they’ve been unable to effectively organize or raise money since the end of the Bush years, and that newer causes like drones have seized the space on the left once occupied by opposition to conventional warfare. And some acknowledge that the energy has leaked out of the movement because a Democrat is now in office. Though some groups have organized online petitions and some real-life...

The years of George W. Bush’s presidency made for fun and exciting viewing of a variety of anti-war groups protesting Bush’s foreign policy and never-ending “military engagements” that taxpayers are still on the hook to pay for. But as Barack Obama continues the drumbeat of war against Syria, where is the outrage from protest groups like Code Pink? Apparently, these groups are flat out of money. It also does not help that a Democrat is now in the White House, which takes much of the fodder out of their purely hypocritical and entirely hollow cries for so-called “peace”. According to...

Sen. Rand Paul renews fight over indefinite detention of US citizens The Hill Nov. 25, 2012 Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is bringing a new — and more aggressive — approach to a longstanding debate over the Defense authorization bill, threatening to filibuster the bill to get a vote on his amendment limiting indefinite detention. Paul’s amendment takes a new tack to curb the military’s ability to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism by affirming they have the right to a speedy trial by jury under the Sixth Amendment. His push to change the indefinite detention laws for U.S. citizens...
