The governor of New Jersey has just commuted the sentence of Brian Aitken, 27, sentenced to seven years in prison for bringing his guns and ammunition when he moved to the state of New Jersey. Patrick Gavin at Politico captured revelations from a Thursday interview Chris Matthews granted at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in DC. On his show: "Obviously, I think I'm the best. But each one of the other people think they're the best, too....I think I'm the best, generally....There's no doubt about it, in fact, but other people have different views....'Hardball' is absolutely nonpartisan." How then, does Matthews explain his Thrill Up My Leg reputation? Is he a journalist? He says yes: "Absolutely. I have to deal with facts every night. I have to cover the news every night."

In their completely justified anger over Gawker’s disgraceful article alleging a (sexless) “one-night stand” with Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell , the O’Donnell campaign took a hard shot at Democratic front-runner Chris Coons. Apparently in response to the Coons campaign’s failure to denounce the article, the campaign said “Classless Coons goons have proven yet again to have no sense of common decency or common sense.”Gawker’s conduct here was reprehensible, but attempting to conflate Chris Coons with them is patently unfair.Update: In a statement to Mediaite, Chris Coons campaign communications director Daniel McElhatton denounces Gawker’s story.
