MOBILE, Alabama -- Mobile police need your help to catch a mob that beat Matthew Owens so badly that he's in critical condition. According to police, Owens fussed at some kids playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive about 8:30 Saturday night. A woman walking her dog along the Spokane River Thursday morning was fatally stabbed in what appears to have been a random attack. Last week THE FACTOR reported on a bias assault in Norfolk that left two newspaper reporters injured. Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on April 14th, 26 year-old Marjon Rostami and 31-year-old David Forster were coming home from the theater when someone threw a rock at their vehicle. Mr. Forster got out to affront the assailant and was set upon by approximately five African-American young men who beat him. We trust our newspapers, who have a profit interest in reporting things we like to read, to interpret that interest as a mandate for telling the truth as they see it. However, as we find out with each generation, newspapers often filter “truth” through two sieves to withdraw upsetting information: first, what is politically de rigeur at the time, and second, what their advertisers and vocal interest groups want to hear.

TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Police have confirmed to News On 6 that an elderly man, who with his wife was brutally beaten by intruders to his home in March, has died. Bob Strait, 90, was critically injured in the March 13 assault, which took place in the 3300 block of East Virgin Street.
