CBS News fired its political director Steve Chaggaris amid allegations of “inappropriate behavior,” the network said on Wednesday. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the allegations were brought to light in the past two week. "In the last two weeks, accounts of inappropriate behavior by Steve Chaggaris were brought to our attention and were immediately investigated. As a result, CBS News has severed ties with Mr. Chaggaris for violating company policy, effective immediately," a statement from CBS obtained by the Reporter said. In his role, Chaggaris oversaw coverage of the Trump administration. He joined the company in 1999, the report said....
  • Iran Starts Killing Protesters, ABC Ignores While CBS and NBC Downplay

The anti-government protests targeting government and religious leaders sweeping across Iran took a bloody turn Sunday as overnight reports surfaces of two protestors being killed at the hands of the corrupt government. Disgustingly, the deaths didn’t trigger much air on the three major American networks. ABC’s Good Morning America had a blackout of the deaths and protests all together while NBC only found 24 seconds for them. CBS finally discovered the protests, as they continued into their fourth day, dedicating a meager 16 seconds. Instead of allowing serious time for the brutal murders of Iranian civilians and the protests, whose...

After CBS initially ignored the Iranian people’s uprising against their oppressors from Thursday to Saturday, and then downplayed the murder of two protesters and shootings of others earlier on Sunday, White House Correspondent Major Garrett finally dedicated some sort of significant time to the subject (two minutes 31 seconds) for the network when he was filling in on Face The Nation. Unfortunately, he only brushed over the details and questioned if President Trump should be speaking out in support of the people fighting for freedom. Garrett began the show with an interview with Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and before getting...

Under an all caps Merry Christmas Glenn Reynolds alerts us to the Senate GOP tweet that embeds an interesting report from CBS News (below). In the spirit of the day, it carries tidings of good cheer. CBS checked in with three families of varying means to ascertain the effect of the tax bill enacted last week. I was particularly interested in the impressions each of them had. A single mother making $40,000 with one kid observed: “It didn’t seem as they were going along that it would really affect someone like me.” The wife in a couple making $150,00 with...

Well, Democratic spin surely has the middle class skeptical of the Republican tax bill. On Friday, President Trump signed the most extensive tax reform in 30 years. It was framed as a giveaway to the wealthy and something akin to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse by congressional Democrats. Not a single Democrat voted for the bill. In reality, itÂ’s a middle class tax cut. Eighty percent of Americans for at least the next eight years will be paying less. The analysis says it. And now CBS News spoke to three families from Providence, Rhode Island, Fresno, California, and Cary,...

A commission headed by Anita Hill and composed of and funded by some of the most powerful names in Hollywood has been created to tackle widespread sexual abuse and harassment in the media and entertainment industries. Called the Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace, the initiative was spearheaded by Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm; Maria Eitel, the co-chair of the Nike Foundation; the powerhouse attorney Nina Shaw; and Freada Kapor Klein, the venture capitalist who helped pioneer surveys on sexual harassment decades ago. The commission’s mission, according to a news release, is to “tackle the...

s a youthful looking 42-year-old, Jeff Glor is the youngest anchor of “CBS Evening News” since Douglas Edwards first sat in the chair in 1948. It’s not all they have in common. Edwards was a veteran radio journalist who was asked to move over to television when it was still a young, emerging medium. Glor, who took over the broadcast on Monday, has a mandate to lead the flagship evening newscast into the digital future. The assignment comes as the evening news format is fighting to remain vital in an age when smartphones can provide headlines and video instantly. CBS...

Congressional Republicans were one step closer to realizing their hopes for tax reform on Thursday as it appeared as though the House and Senate had reconciled nearly all of the legislation. Hearing the recommendations and concerns of the public, the Republicans preserved the current tax codeÂ’s deductions for student loans, medical bills, and added a $10,000 cap for state and local taxes. But of the three major network news outlets, NBC was the only one that left them out of their evening broadcast. Instead of reporting what was known to be in the GOP tax reform bill, NBC Nightly News...

Video at link (1:16) ~ Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said the women who accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct “should be heard.” Haley said, “I am incredibly proud of the women who have come forward. I’m proud of their strength. I’m proud of their courage. And I think that the idea that this is happening, I think it will start to bring a conscience to the situation, not just in politics, but in, you know, we’ve seen in Hollywood and in every industry. And I think the time has...
  • Bob Mueller vs. Ken Starr: A Classic Media Double Standard

Liberal reporters are scandalized by what they say is President Trump’s effort to “discredit” and “undermine” special counsel Robert Mueller, worried that it could presage an attempt to “remove Mueller, or end his investigation.” But when President Bill Clinton was being investigated by Ken Starr, journalists applauded Democratic and White House attacks on the independent counsel, and frequently joined in themselves. Today’s journalists seem appalled by attempts by the President and his allies that question Mueller’s credibility. Washington Post reporters Devlin Barrett and Sean Sullivan sounded the alarm in a front-page story on December 7: “Several law enforcement officials said...

Once again, you called it right, President Trump! The truth FINALLY got its pants back on Friday while mainstream media liars were caught flashing their dirty undies at the masses, their lies having already traveled halfway around the world. This time, the odious stench of burning coming from CNN, CBS, MSNBC and the far more cunning Washington Post, all of whose pants were on fire, went viral. With most attention riveted on Liar King CNN, CBS and MSNBC came jumping, flames and all, into the lie pit‚Äîallowing the WaPo’s David Weigel to almost wiggle out of his lies.

In an extensive piece published by The Intercept on Saturday, co-founder of the news site Glenn Greenwald excoriated CNN (as well as a host of other news outlets) for recklessly advancing agenda driven stories involving the Russia investigation, with no transparency when the stories blow up in their face and go viral with fake news. Greenwald began by noting how “Friday was one of the most embarrassing days for the U.S. media in quite a long time.”“The humiliation orgy was kicked off by CNN, with MSNBC and CBS close behind, with countless pundits, commentators and operatives joining the party throughout...

The Army-Navy game is special, unlike any other. As such, it requires a different introduction than say, Arkansas-Missouri. And I am thrilled to report that CBS Sports was up to the task. Here’s the introduction they’ll show before kickoff this afternoon. It’s powerful without overstepping the line of self-importance. Most impressively, it puts the actual game in proper context.

Beverly Young Nelson has finally admitted that she forged a portion of the infamous high school yearbook that she and attorney Gloria Allred used as proof of her accusations against U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore. And in yet another blow to the credibility of ABC News, the disgraced, left-wing network downplayed the bombshell by presenting this admission of forgery as adding “notes” to the inscription.

It’s another black eye for Black Rock. A week after CBS host Charlie Rose was outed as an alleged serial sex harasser, one of the network’s former producers says she was told by a boss that she would have to sleep with coworkers to get anywhere in the company. “I was in a state of shock,” said Erin Gee, 44, who worked for CBS for 17 years and recently filed a Manhattan federal suit alleging rampant sex discrimination at the network. Gee said one of the most offensive incidents occurred in 2011, when she was talking with her boss at...

A former “60 Minutes” producer accused her supervisors of sexual harassment in a complaint she filed last year with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The producer’s complaint was one of 19 discrimination complaints logged with the federal agency against CBS between March 2015 and October 2016.... The producer also accused the hallowed news show of journalistic ethical violations. She said in her EEOC complaint that her bosses retaliated against her when she complained about sexual harassment and the unethical behavior.... a former CBS employee said that sexual harassment at the Tiffany Network has been a problem for years. “There’s been...

Charlie Rose seemed the worse for wear as he walked home Monday after getting benched from all of his gigs, and he seemed to take issue with the characterization that he did something wrong. A photog got Rose entering his New York City apartment and asked if he had anything to say to the women who accused him of "wrongdoing." Rose shot back, "It's not wrongdoings" ... then entered his building with an assist from the doorman.

Eight women have told The Washington Post that longtime television host Charlie Rose made unwanted sexual advances toward them, including lewd phone calls, walking around naked in their presence, or groping their breasts, buttocks or genital areas. The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at the “Charlie Rose” show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the alleged encounters. Rose, 75, whose show airs on PBS, also co-hosts “CBS This Morning” and is a contributing correspondent for “60 Minutes.” There are striking commonalities...
