The Ohio Senate has passed House Bill 347 (reforming concealed carry, standardizing Ohio gun laws statewide) by a vote of 21 to 12, thus overriding Governor Taft's veto.

CBS Evening News contained a brief segment tonight called "State of the Media" which (among other things) discussed the impact of bloggers on traditional media. The most interesting sentence (for me) occurred in a discussion of the infamous 60 Minutes II show in 2004 concerning George Bush's alleged special treatment in the National Guard. According to the CBS announcer, when questionable documents were used in the show, "bloggers quickly EXPOSED them" (emphasis added).

. . . and other unusual events. Last night on NBC Nightly News (or whatever title they give it) there was a special on "home-grown terrorists." After the usual statements about Timothy McVeigh and "right-wing extremists" there was a statement to the effect that (rough quote) "currently the danger seems to be from the radical left, such as the ELF" . . . I was sufficiently surprised that I didn't get the exact words of the quote, but I did notice that, for the first time in my (rather long) memory, the words "radical" and "left" were used in the...

An anti-Bush letter appearing in our local paper today contains the following statements: "President Bush's own military record is clouded in mystery and he has failed to supply any solid evidence about his National Guard service. On "Meet the Press," the president promised to release his military records. These have not been forthcoming." . . . "The Associated Press is suing the Pentagon for unreleased records that Bush could easily make public." Am I missing something? On the 6 pm (EST) local newscast, the Columbus, Ohio TV station WBNS-TV (Channel 10) announced that the Gore campaign has pulled all TV ads from the state of Ohio, evidently to spend the money in other states. The Ohio Democratic Party is still running some anti-Bush ads, but the Gore campaign money is apparently going elsewhere.
