New iPhone 7 recently updated and I can’t remember which browser still allows you to enlarge font on a site like Free Republic and still allow wrap around text in the viewing screen so that you don’t have to scroll left and right like a fool to read each line. Whyyyyy can’t we have FR work well and visibly on mobiles? Or do I just not know the trick?

Funny, I didn't think about this when I offered to take over this week for the vacationing Jamestown1630, that I'd be heading into a religious fast! What great timing! Still, there is no time like fasting (or thinking about fasting) to come up with delicious ideas to make and eat. What would you break a fast with? Personally, the actual first food I eat after not eating for some 25 hours needs to be protein, or I will feel quite sick. But there are a million kinds of protein! Traditionally in my family the proteins have been cold meats (as...

DENVER, CO – A group of Colorado Avalanche fans has written an open letter to President Donald Trump and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman following the weekend's developments. The group of diehard supporters co-signed the memo asking for sports to be left out of their beloved politics after the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they would be accepting the invitation to the White House. "We, the undersigned, write to both of you explaining how we are devastated by the way the sport has infiltrated politics the last few days," the letter reads. "We are regular, hardworking westerners. When we come home each...

(Vanity) The NFL players are supposedly protesting police violence against African American males. The facts are that a large majority of victims of excessive police force are not African Americans, and that a tiny minority (even including armed, suspiciously behaving suspects) of African American males are harmed by police. If Hillary Clinton had won the presidency, both the true statistics of police violence against black males AND the keynote incidents of the past years made famous in media WOULD REMAIN UNCHANGED. WOULD THESE FOOTBALL PLAYERS STILL BE TAKING THE KNEE?

Has a FReeper survived a serious tetanus infection? I'd love some positive stories. My dear friend was just dx'ed in an ER this morning, after being misdiagnosed for almost a week. I'm concerned. 90% live through treatment. There is no cure. You either beat the toxins or you don't. I'd like to hear any personal stories for hope. Prayers for her welcome too. She is a strong Catholic with teenaged kids.

Imgur doesn't let you use the website any more to upload and share photos. At least on the iPad it forces you to use the app. I can easily upload web photos to the app, but I can't quickly find a link that allows me to post my photo on FR. Can anyone explain to me exactly how I still can post photos from the imgur app to here? Thanks,

Breast cancer is one of the most common tumor types, and metastasis greatly increases the risk of death from this disease. By studying the process of intravasation or entry of cells into the vasculature, Karagiannis et al. discovered that, in addition to killing tumor cells, chemotherapy treatment can also increase intravasation. Groups of cells collectively known as tumor microenvironment of metastasis (TMEM) can serve as gateways for tumor cells entering the vasculature, and the authors discovered that several types of chemotherapy can increase the amounts of TMEM complexes and circulating tumor cells in the bloodstream. The researchers also determined that...

The list of protected and unprotected players of each NHL team is out. See link. The new Vegas team, the Golden Knights, can pick one player or goalie from each of the 30 existing teams according to some rules. And there will be trading in the draft on Weds as well. Interrresting. Airborne, I am going to use the hockey ping list but if that is a faux pas, please let me know. I apologize in advance.

Radio talk show listeners, or tv political show viewers, please report which shows / hosts dare to talk about the left's current attempts to silence Sean Hannity. It would be fair to lose respect for those who don't have the courage to touch upon it at all, when, if they are conservative or attract a conservative audience, it directly affects them. Are they entertainers just shilling for their bosses, playing a role? Or do they care enough about free speech to throw out some support for Hannity or even some outrage at silencing ANY voice or opinion? Are they constitutionalists,...

She was at a friend's house, visiting for a few days. She has had Alzheimer's for over 6 years. She has not had any health problems other than that, but she is over 80. Today she had the classic symptoms of stroke, paralysis and drooping on one side, slurred speech, confusion, so her friend called paramedics and she is now at a good hospital. MRI has confirmed stroke. All her symptoms have gone, and she doesn't even remember why she is in the hospital or that she had a stroke. The doctors are still running tests. She is being given...

Yes, I am logged in. Normally on iPad I can finger scroll up the writing box to see what I am writing as I write it. Now, for the past two days I cannot see what I am writing. I don't believe this is an FR issue, as it is happening on text conversations with otherse. As with Free Republic, I have to click the button to lower the keyboardscreeni order to see what I am writing. Editing is impossible. Anyone have any help?

Hollywood IQ (HI-Q) Checklist for Academy Awards Broadcast 100 IQ -You mention in your speech or intro "the ways things are going," "politics today," "crazy state of the country," "after this election," thus wanting to be among the cool kids but not bold enough to be blatantly anti-POTUS. 95 IQ - You make sure to get in a timid jab at this President in your speech or intro. "With who is in office," "After he was elected," "the new President," "With him as President," but you're still too chicken to name him. 90 IQ - Getting fairly stupid here. You...

Happy Weekend, Everyone! A little birdie in a kilt whispered to me that we should have a cooking for Valentine's Day theme this weekend, and that is a perfect idea. I love chocolate so let's get some tried and true old favorite recipes out, as well as some new challenges if you want. But don't stop at dessert! Lots of our true loves have savory desires on Valentine's Day. Steaks, beef stew, potatoes Anna or Baked with sour cream... what is going to delight your honey, family, or even just yourself this week? Me, I'm thinking of chocolate this week....

Hi to all! This is the weekly cooking thread for this weekend, and I am one of the substitutes for Jamestown1630. I'm sorry I didn't start yesterday, but, well, how do I say this?? I forgot. And I am sorry. But here we are. What is going on in your kitchens this week? There are a lot of sports on TV this weekend so I decided to make a bunch of fried chicken, great to eat right out of the fryer, but also good cold. I bought a bunch of winglets and some drumsticks. I took a glass 13x9 pan,...

Good morning, happy Friday the 13th. Cotton Ball and I are the substitute cooking leaders for our dear Jamestown1630, who is nursing someone close to her back to health. May he be having a uptick in health this weekend, JT! Anyway, no creepy morbid Friday the 13th recipes for me. But in my area (Southern California) we've had chilly weather and rain, for us quite delightful. So I'm thinking warm, homey slow cooker meals today. But as you know, we here are open to EVERYTHING food and food related. Today I'm going to make a white bean chili recipe in...

Ok, we are surprising someone tomorrow with a Christmas tree. We are Jewish so pretty clueless as to how this works. Got a beautiful tree about 6 feet, best watering stand we could find, even got millions of little lights all up around it (thanks, YouTube!). But it needs something around the base. Thought I could just grab a tree skirt, but this tree has an enormous stand, diameter maybe 2.5 feet. The skirts only have a small hole for the trunk. What can we put under the tree that would fit? So many Christians here who put up trees...

What is the cheapest way to get decent "cable" tv and Internet service in a very rural place, when you only need it a few times a year when there? Has a FReeper solved this problem already? The people going up there will be elderly and/or not at all techie. They just want to turn on a tv and see the regular typical cable channels and they want to surf the web in normal ways as well as use texting etc. The home might be used less than once a month, or even just a few times a year. It...
