Tuesday July 31 2:13 AM ET Welfare Rules May Have Negative Effect By LAURA MECKLER, Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) - Teen-agers whose mothers participated in welfare-to-work programs appear to do worse in school and have more behavior problems than teens from other welfare families, research suggests. Considerable attention has focused on the affect the changes in the welfare system have had on younger children, and some research has suggested that they can benefit when their mothers go to work and earn more money. But there's been less attention on the impact on adolescents. Three studies - in Florida, Minnesota ...

Was listening to Roe and Garry on WLS just a bit ago. They were interviewing their reporterette Susan Carlson, who was a witness to the execution. Very interesting story she tells of the selection process. However, what caught my ear was when she said his chest kept going up and down, even after they declared him dead. I'm not one to normally go into the conspiracy side of things, but it was a strange comment.

Facing the inevitable From the Journal Sentinel On Monday morning, a reluctant U.S. Supreme Court asked Florida's Supreme Court to explain why it extended the deadline for certifying final results of the presidential election in that state. Later in the day, the high court got the explanation it sought - not from the Florida Supreme Court, but from a Leon County circuit judge, N. Sanders Sauls. It was he who supplied much-needed clarity to a situation that has bewildered many Americans. Sauls' decision, in combination with the U.S. Supreme Court's earlier ruling, was a powerful and perhaps mortal blow to ...

Sorry for the vanity. I've scanned the hearing threads but haven't seen this mentioned yet. If I heard this correctly, this totally destroys Gore's case. Did I hear the "ballot box expert" Kimball Brace say the following when dimpling the chad by sticking the ballot on top of the machine: "If you line it up, Gore ends up at seven" on the Palm Beach ballot. If I heard that correctly, then Bush would have been five on the same ballot! Follow me on this. If done correctly Bush is three and Gore is five. If placed on top, and "Gore ...
