News producers are at a loss. "We just brutally invaded Fallujah killing 1200-1600 innocent Iraqi insurgents! We broadcast a Marine killing an injured, unarmed, Iraqi nationalist who lay near death in a Mosque. We sent the tape to Al-Jazeera! What more can the press do to undermine this unjust invasion of a sovereign nation. Get me Kevin Sites! If anybody can find some violence in Iraq, it's Kevin! We have no significant violence for 48 hours in a row? Just one dead Sunni cleric? This is unacceptable! Get me Sites!" The press is getting nervous. What if Bush actually pulls...

WHY all the fuss about the recent killing of an unarmed Iraqi in a mosque by a US marine? We are only outraged because the murder has been captured on film, and the US army is only appalled because the marine was stupid enough to commit murder in front of a camera. This is war, and in war this sort of abhorrent behaviour continues every minute of every day all over the country. Check the facts. The US army is able to provide a reliable estimate of the number of insurgents killed (about 1600), but has no idea of the...

New Mexico's 33 county clerks are required to submit their complete vote totals— including provisional and absentee votes— to the Secretary of State's Office by Nov. 12, Ortega said... State officials are to present their final canvass, or vote count, to the state canvassing board by Nov. 23, Ortega said. Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera said Wednesday she wants to count the provisional ballots soon. "I'm making it a priority to count the provisional ballots right away," Herrera said. About 13,000 provisional ballots awaited counting in Bernalillo County, Herrera said. There are three kinds of ballots to be counted within...

As if things weren't complicated enough, here comes the dirt. Registered voters who have been somehow unregistered. Democrats who suddenly find they've been re-registered as Republicans. A flier announcing that Election Day has been extended through Wednesday. Dirty tricks are a staple of campaigns, but election officials say this year's could achieve new highs in numbers and new lows in scope, especially in key battleground states such as Florida and Ohio, where special-interest groups have poured in to influence the neck-and-neck race between President Bush and Sen. John F. Kerry. "In my 16 years as an election administrator, I've never...

It would appear ABC NEWS does not publish the tracking poll when it shows Bush winning handily. WASH POST has it up. We recall from yesterday, they both rely on the same data... Should show the same trend right? SO where is it?

Methodology The vote preference questions in this poll were conducted by telephone Oct. 6-9, 2004 among a random national sample of 2,407 adults, including 2,030 registered voters and 1,589 likely voters. The results have a 2.5-point error margin among likely voters. ABC News and The Washington Post are sharing data collection for this tracking poll, then independently applying their own models to arrive at likely voter estimates. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by TNS of Horsham, Pa. ABC News polls can be found at ABCNEWS.com at http://abcnews.com/Politics/PollVault/.

Bush Has 5-Point Lead in New Poll By Richard Morin and Christopher Muste Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, October 5, 2004; Page A06 President Bush continues to lead Sen. John F. Kerry among likely voters despite surging enthusiasm for Kerry among Democrats and new doubts about whether the president has a clear plan to deal with terrorism and the situation in Iraq, according to a Washington Post tracking poll. In the aftermath of last week's debate, Bush leads Kerry 51 percent to 46 percent among those most likely to vote, according to polling conducted Friday through Sunday. Independent candidate Ralph...

...Kerry called Bush's response to the last question of the debate Friday night - the president was asked to name three specific mistakes he had made and what he did to correct them but ended up doing neither... ...The president dampened the scowling expressions of the first debate, but several questions brought his emotions bubbling up... ..."I've got to answer this," Bush said as he cut off the moderator... ...Kerry showed a cooler and wordier bearing to the participants and television viewers... ...An instant ABC News poll suggested that the voters who tuned in for the Friday night debate picked...

Never changed his mind? He does yet again in just 10 minutes in front of 50 million people. Kerry: Well, let me tell you straight up: I've never changed my mind about Iraq. I do believe Saddam Hussein was a threat. I always believed he was a threat. Believed it in 1998 when Clinton was president. 10 minutes later... KERRY: And what's interesting is, it's (Iran) a threat that has grown while the president has been preoccupied with Iraq, where there wasn't a threat.

Here is the transcript of the October 1st program of The McLaughlin Group that exposes the left for what it truly represents: hatred of America, hatred of our troops, hatred of our president and a fundamental lack of patriotism that translates to weakness in the face of the new global terror threat. The left is dangerous. Lawrence O'Donnell let his guard down in a fit of anger and exposed himself for what he truly is. Please contact MSNBC at http://www.msnbc.com/modules/Newsweek/feedback/nwfeedback.asp?cp1=1 and The McLaughlin Group at comments@mclaughlin.com to express your concerns. Ms. Spencer estimated that since May, 800 of the roughly 4,000 adult clubs in America have launched voter registration efforts, registering an average of 200 voters per club. Few adult clubs have engaged in voter drives in previous elections. The registration efforts have taken many forms. Jim Halbach, owner of seven clubs in Wisconsin and Illinois, personally approaches customers as they come through his clubs' doors and asks them to sign voter registration documents. Mr. Halbach also has special voter drive nights, at which he waives normal door charges. "These nights, the dancers come down off the stage and tell...

comments@mclaughlin.com Waiting for a transcript, but I heard Lawrence O'Donnell shout on today's TMG that he could care less that the troops are demoralized by Kerry's incessant cynicism about the Iraq war. Essentially he said they should keep their mouths shut and fight. I almost fell out of my chair. Did anybody else hear the exchange? Shocking! Please write to McLaughlin producers at comments@mclaughlin.com to let them know that O'Donnell crossed the line of decency and really does not deserve to have access to an otherwise prestigious panel. I'll post the transcript as soon as it is available. If anybody...

In his fiscal 2001 budget request to Congress next month, Clinton will ask for $439 million to fund research and grants to aid the production of ''bioenergy'' and other products such...

Here is a sampling of recent Loven quotes that have appeared on the AP Wire. HEADLINE: Bush claims Kerry and congressional liberals will hurt the economy BYLINE: By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer I like this juxtaposition to make Bush look bad. "Kerry has proposed paying for new initiatives by rolling back taxes only on the wealthiest Americans. Bush said, 'We're not going to let them tax anybody, because we're going to win in November.'" Why the use of the qualifier "only?" Obviously to make Kerry sound like a reasonable guy who reall yloves tax cuts as long as it...

Email to NPR Ombudsman Dvorkin 9/24/2004 Dear Mr. Dvorkin, I must say I was stunned that NPR has decided to go ahead with this series of "swing voter" interviews. I listened to Morning Edition's latest installment today and was dumbfounded that the rationale advanced for Ridley's donations to Clarke and Kerry was that Bush was raising more money and Ridley simply acted to level the playing field. This is absurd and is insulting to NPR's listeners. Ridley is presented as a swing voter in THIS year's presidential election. He is purportedly undecided, yet these are the facts: He has given...

BYLINE: By C. BRYSON HULL, Associated Press Writer DATELINE: JASPER, Texas BODY: Hawthorn pulled the chain out, showing it to jurors during cross examination of a police detective just a few hours into testimony Wednesday. In doing so, he stole a moment used to great dramatic effect by the prosecution in closing stages of the King and Brewer trials. Berry's trial began as two pre-trial distractions came to an end. First, State District Judge Joe Bob Golden denied a last-minute defense motion to move the trial from Jasper, about 125 miles northeast of Houston, because of intense media coverage and...
