  • LIVE THREAD: Benghazi Talking Points Mike Morrell's Role in Shaping...(Hearing)

    Maggie: Thanks for ping & excellent post....watching & taping (Fox...too many cut-aways). Please ping me if C-span announces a schedule tonight for airing this hearing.

    The putrid stench of Dem corruption sears the nostrils of conscious Americans like a mountain of rotting flesh.

    Your post deserves a thread of its own. Catherine Herridge did a blistering report on BGS. When I saw her video report below, I wanted to post a thread, but, so regrettably, too little available time these days for FR. I hope you find time and inclination to post a deserved thread on BGS. It appears BGS was founded to reward “long-suffering” Benghazi Dems who needed a place to land.

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/03/24/Report-Top-GOP-Benghazi-Investigator-In-Business-With-Clintonistas

    More here from the link (but watch video also). It didn’t get enough coverage:

    The Fox News report by Catherine Herridge notes that ***one month*** after Allen interviewed Morell about the Benghazi attack in May 2013, Beacon approached him to hire him. Allen was then one of the most senior GOP officials on the issue and Morell the deputy director at the CIA.....

    J. Michael Allen is the founder and managing director of Beacon Global Strategies. He previously served as the staff director for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, chaired by GOP Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan and perhaps the most important panel investigating Benghazi.

    Allen’s new business partners at Beacon include:

    Philippe Reines, a dyed-in-the-wool Clinton hatchet man who worked for Clinton from 2002 until founding Beacon

    Andrew Shapiro, a former top State Department official (under Clinton) and senior policy adviser to Clinton

    Josh Kirshner, a former top State Department official under Clinton who also worked for her as a Senate aide in 2006

    Ashley Woolheater, who previously led a team “responsible for crafting and executing the strategic media goals of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton” at the State Department

    Jeremy Bash, a former chief of staff to Leon Panetta at the Defense Department and CIA under President Obama

    Julianne Smith, a former top aide to Vice President Joe Biden

    Sarah Davey, a former aide to Michelle Obama who helped craft the “Let’s Move!” initiative

    Meredith Steen, a low-level Democratic aide who interned for Democrat James Moran

    PS: Greetings Ad-guy. Hope you are well. Missing you and the other ever-witty freepers on the Levin thread.

    UPDATE:

    Mystery fake-passport holders on flight MH370 were Iranian

    Excerpt:

    "The two men travelling on stolen passports on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that mysteriously disappeared on Saturday have been identified as Iranian nationals.

    A BBC Persian report quotes an Iranian friend of one of the men, who said he hosted the pair in Kuala Lumpur after they arrived from Tehran in the days preceding their flight to Beijing.

    The friend, who knew one of the men from his school days in Iran, said the men had bought the fake passports because they wanted to migrate to Europe. "

    Related thread (more info):

    Paper reveals Iranian-link in ticket purchase for passengers with stolen passports

    "The Financial Times exclusively reported that a Thai travel agent who booked the tickets for the men said she had been asked to make the travel arrangements by an Iranian contact.

    Travel agent Benjaporn Krutnait, booked the tickets through a business contact whom she only knew as "Mr Ali". She said that his first request to book cheap tickets to Europe for the two men was made on March 1.

    She told The Financial Times that it was quite common for people to book tickets through middlemen who then retake a commission.

    Ali had asked for the cheapest route to Europe for his clients and did not mention the specific booking Kuala Lumpur-Beijing - unlikely behaviour by would-be terrorists.

    Benjaporn initially reserved one of the men on a Qatar Airways flight and the other on Etihad. But the tickets expired when Benjaporn did not hear back from Ali.

    The Financial Times said when Ali contacted her again on Thursday, she rebooked the men on the Malaysia Airlines flight through Beijing because it was the cheapest available.

    A friend of Ali paid Benjaporn cash for the tickets, the paper reported, adding that there is no evidence that Ali knew the two men were travelling on stolen passports.

    Benjaporn made the bookings through a China Southern Airlines office in Bangkok.

    The two passengers were supposed to fly from Beijing to Amsterdam on Saturday. The passenger travelling as "Luigi Maraldi" was to fly on to Copenhagen and "Christian Kozel" to Frankfurt."

    Israeli Officials: WH Admits Iran Sanctions Relief Much More than They Said

    Senior White House officials have admitted to the Israeli government, Israeli sources tell Haaretz, what their counterparts have maintained for a while: The sanctions relief provided in the temporary Geneva deal with Iran is worth a lot more than the $7 billion the White House claimed. The realistic estimate is now something more like $20 billion.

    “I have to buy a new one.” - water heater

    Best to do -— VA pond may not freeze, but at least you save your koi if it does.

    Heater will keep a hole open.

    IIRC, I was told to **never** break a hole in the ice if pond freezes. It damages little koi “eardums” -— or, their “eardrum” equivalents. LOL, consult expert if you want scientific info; just don’t pound the ice to open up a hole.

    If pond slightly freezes (with heater), you will be able to see koi under the ice. Depending on how cold water is, sometimes you will be able to see them slowly moving, and other times, they are perfectly still, as if in suspended animation.

    Geisinger Health in PA raised my monthly from $252 to $500, and deductible from $500 to %5,000, and that’s until Dec 30, when it expires. They’re not offering me any alternative.

    So I’ll go without, see my regular 2 docs (probably drop 1), pay cash and get a discount for office visits, buy meds out of pocket, and if something catastrophic happens, shop for a covering policy since I can’t be turned down for pre-existing condition. If it gets bad, I’ll drive into an empty farm field, leave the Jeep, and just eat a .45 ACP or run the tailpipe into the closed Grand Cherokee. I refuse to sign-up for 0deathCare.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~`
    Your indiv Geisinger plan is like Obamacare choices with respect to premiums/deductibles-—but perhaps not insofar as what docs/specialists/and hospitals are available to you.
    Are you saying your plan expiration is THIS Dec 30th (2013)? SHEESH! Shop for another indiv plan and check to see if your docs are included. Better yet, call docs’ offices to see what plans they accept and call those insurers for specifics. Does no harm to get info.
    Your plan B (”if it gets bad...”), after all, is not a plan. :-(
    That sounds like someone who thinks if “Armageddon” comes, I’ll just wing it-— not like someone who preps a basement like you have posted photos of.
    Research your options for a new plan...for 2015. After that, Medicare eligible, right? Was learning about that on the Sebelius hearing thread today:
    Nov 2014 will tell us what this country’s future will be.
    ~~~~~~~~

    Maybe so, but I am not counting on it. That’s a long time away, and I notice how Obama/DNC has a way, if left unchecked, of filling that interim vacuum and overwhelming the sated, over-confident, always surprised Repubs.

    Far too many people harbour the relief that Obamacare has nothing to do with them-—as it was intended, and then repurposed (via delaying employer mandate), to do. Fools are they-— the employer-insured with their PPO insurance (as have I) and the uber-wealthy, who will just shift to concierge services and private plans.
    ,
    Sooner than a snap of the fingers (2015), PPO’s will disappear as those employers offering PPO plans are mercilessly decentivized and financially punished into abandoning those plans. The untouched uber-wealthy will discover that although they have escaped Obamacare’s hideous healthcare grasp, they have not escaped Obamacare’s economy, nor the Obamacare shutdown of medical research and development.

    Also to you point:

    The Handshake Heard ‘Round the World

    Posted By Matthew Vadum On December 11, 2013 In Daily Mailer, FrontPage

    President Obama’s distressing rejection of American exceptionalism was on display for the whole world to see yesterday when he shamed his country by lowering himself to shake the blood-stained hand of Cuba’s Communist dictator.

    In a brief but cordial encounter in a funeral receiving line at the southern tip of the African continent, Obama shook the hand of Cuban’s octogenarian tyrant, President Raul Castro, granting a kind of legitimacy to the caudillo who leads America’s Cold War enemy 90 miles from the Florida coast. In so doing Obama demonstrated his weakness and emboldened America’s enemies.

    The occasion was a memorial service in South Africa for that country’s former president, Nelson Mandela, a Communist terrorist who, like Obama’s close personal friend Bill Ayers, used explosives to express himself politically.

    Mandela, who died last week at age 95 long after serving a quarter-century in prison and helping to slay apartheid, has a few things in common with Obama.

    Mandela, who routinely denounced the United States and Israel, set in motion the transformation of his once-prosperous nation into the community organizer’s paradise that is modern South Africa, complete with mob rule, mob justice, racial tension, and epidemic levels of violence. Mandela’s Marxist colleagues are continuing his work, community organizing that nation into Third World kleptocracy status.

    Obama conspicuously ordered American flags flown at half-staff throughout the U.S. in honor of Mandela, an unusual tribute for the United States to afford a non-American, and in this case, a former foreign head of state. It is all part of Obama’s racial presidency in which he plays off racial and ethnic groups against each other, no matter what lasting harm it does to society. The flag-lowering is better treatment than he gave the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a far more consequential world leader whom he snubbed by skipping her funeral.

    We’ve known for a long time that Obama is most at ease when he’s hanging out with thugs, terrorists, murderous anti-American despots, and anti-Semites. He carefully avoids harsh language when describing Iran’s barely concealed nuclear weapons program that his administration is allowing to go forward. A relativist and multiculturalist, Obama respects the former Persia’s so-called right to self-determination and nuclear arms even though the theocratic regime persecutes religious dissenters, puts gays to death, and almost daily promises to vaporize U.S. ally Israel.

    Communist Cuba doesn’t have an evil system in Obama’s view. The Communists who have been terrorizing and enslaving the Cuban people are merely misunderstood. Americans, especially with their embrace of imperialism and colonialism, supposedly have no moral standing to criticize what the Castro brothers have built.

    Ascertaining whether Obama actually bowed before Castro in reaching for his hand is a subjective exercise. The president often leans forward when greeting people. In order to be at eye-level and look in the face of Castro, who is much shorter than Obama, the president had to move the upper portion of his body simultaneously forward and downward.

    Perhaps this has something to do with why MSNBC’s slogan is “lean forward.” After all, the cable news network full-throatedly supports Obama’s policies which are aimed at humbling America and punishing it for its greatness.

    As president, Obama has long had a disturbing habit of bowing before foreign heads of state, as Keith Koffler observes. He has bowed before Communist Chinese President Hu Jintao, Saudi King Abdullah, Queen Elizabeth II, Japanese Emperor Akihito, and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

    “American presidents, who have been put in charge of a democratic nation that specifically broke from royalty, particularly should not bow to kings and queens,” Koffler writes. “Especially ones running repressive societies like Saudi Arabia. But on the very same day he bowed to Abdullah, he also bowed to Queen Elizabeth, chief of the monarchy that was our former Lord and Master.”

    Obama may as well have warmly slapped Castro on the back and given him an “attaboy!” for all the hard work he’s done over the years to achieve redistributionist nirvana on his decrepit island nation that has become a popular sex tourism destination in the de-developed world. We can only wonder how many death warrants for anti-Communist dissidents and freedom fighters Castro has signed with that hand or how many times he has used the fingers that touched Obama’s to pull the trigger of a rifle and execute an enemy of Cuba’s long-lived gangster regime.

    Shaking Castro’s hand implies that the Cuban president is Obama’s equal, a legitimate world leader worthy of respect. This is consistent with our president’s worldview.

    Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) appropriately upbraided President Obama for the hit-and-run grip-and-grim, comparing the gesture to British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s infamous handshake with Adolf Hitler in the run-up to World War Two. That handshake symbolically gave Nazi Germany a green light to take over the Sudetenland and helped to clear the way for the Third Reich’s violent expansion across Europe.

    “It gives Raul some propaganda to continue to prop up his dictatorial, brutal regime, that’s all,” McCain said.

    Obama shouldn’t have done it, McCain asserted. “Why should you shake hands with somebody who’s keeping Americans in prison? I mean, what’s the point?”

    McCain appeared to be referring to Jewish American Alan Gross who has been rotting in a Cuban jail since 2009. Gross is a political prisoner who was snagged for outreach to Cuba’s Jewish community.

    Say what you will about his flakiness, but Americans can always count on President Obama to embarrass them on overseas trips. He routinely makes a mockery of the high office to which the American people have twice elected him.

    A precious hopeful sign. Why aren’t other states doing this? SC started back in April.

    A bill set for fast-track passage in the South Carolina Senate in January aims to eliminate Obamacare in the state. The law could become a model for other states fed up with the federal health-care law.

    House Bill 3101, titled the “South Carolina Freedom of Health Care Protection Act,” passed the state House of Representatives last April by a 65-34 vote. The bill now heads to the GOP-controlled Senate with special-order priority, setting up the likelihood that South Carolina will become the first state to exempt citizens and businesses from all participation in the Affordable Care Act.

    Fox news (Happening Now): Arul Grover (physician) talked about Obamacare and doctor shortages. Affects rural and inner-cities now, and everyone later.

    Said 10,000 people per day will reach 65-—for the next 20 years. US is experiencing record number of applications to medical schools. Problem is that “we may not have enough residency training programs.”

    Reason for that:

    “Since the Balanced Budget ACT of 1997, Congress limited Medicare’s ability to support its share of the cost of training at teaching hospitals....We are at financial constraint capacity, not from a technical standpoint...but because it is a financially costly proposition to train all of those physicians.”

    Sebelius just answered a question from Griffith: You don’t think the plan you have is skimpy, do you?

    “But as you know the new Marketplace plan has some age-rating that the Fed Employee Health Benefit program did not.”
    ~~~~~~~~~
    I am watching delayed. Now I see it was Griffith who discussed the medicaid rule that you mentioned. Once again, Sebelius was non-responsive.
    I just recently saw some threads about that. How disgusting! Learning more than I ever wanted to, but we all must. The future of our country depends on abolishing Obamacare.
    hmmm...Thanks for info.
    Would it be the same if your wife (as primary policy holder) was over 65? You BOTH would be on your wife’s employer policy? IOW, Employees over 65 can be on employer policies.
    That raises 2 other questions. When you turned 65, did you have to sign up for medicare or was that automatic through the employer policy?
    Second question: I wonder if private insurers cannot sell an INDIVIDUAL policy to anyone over 65?
    Now she says that Medicaid enrollees are now re-enrolling.
    Wouldn’t the same be true of medicare?
    And if she is on medicare ? that’s not what she said in the last hearing - she said she was on the federal benefits plan.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

    “Medicaid enrollees are now re-enrolling.”

    ??? Why, I wonder? There was no announcement about that. Are they re-entolling because they think they must?
    ~~~~~~
    “And if she is on medicare ?”
    Rep Green, D-TX said he and his wife are over 65 and enrolling on the website for Congress. Is it that members of Congress and Fed officials are excluded from Medicare if they are on the Fed plan? Sebelius did say that it was illegal for any “private” insurer to insure her.
    Now I am curious about this topic.
    Sebelius said, “It is illegal for a company to sell me a policy in the private market because I am over 65.”
    I didn’t know that.
    Rep (Dr) Ed Whitfield, R-KY -—
    “Many healthcare experts today say we are going quickly to a two-healthcare system-—one healthcare system for wealthy Americans and everyone else will be under Obamacare. That is exactly what has happened in every other country that has gone down this path.”
    So why are policies so different in price among the states - isn’t Obamacare supposed to be “nationalizing” centralizing health care?
    That is why are the states different in terms of cost? as Sebelius mentioned
    Waxman was telling about people who have new Obamacare plans with NO deductible. Where are these success stories in the news? Anyone seen anything like this?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

    Waxman is confused or lying. The only people not paying deductibles are those on medicaid/medicaid expansion.

    "...on Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported that under Obamacare "the average individual deductible for what is called a bronze plan on the exchange — the lowest-priced coverage — is $5,081 a year.")"

    Euphoria of Obamacare becomes nightmare of higher premiums and deductibles

    Isn’t it time for the Dems to talk Captain Queeg off the ledge and repeal this? He’s not mentally stable enough to bring himself in.
