So basically you believe the cop (or anyone else who accidentally hits a child) should be open to violence from family members.

And as an aside, I think you are taking the statement "take it easy, I'm a cop" in the worst context possible. You probably think he said it sarcastically when he very well could have been saying it to let the family know he could help the little girl. Or, yes, perhaps he was saying it in response to the violent overatures of the family. Either way, what the cop said did not justify the family's actions.

I'm having a difficult time with some of the posts on this thread.

Bottom line: if this was a private citizen (not a cop) who performed the EXACT SAME actions, you'd be calling the father a thug for attacking the motorcycle rider. Then you'd give the shooter kudos for exercising his G-d given 2A rights.

Yup. On my job, they train us that even if you’re only being beaten with fists, if you reasonably think you’re going out of the picture you can use deadly force.

The 'bathroom' in Ranger School is called a slit trench. The medic would choose a spot inside of the patrol base and dig a rectangular hole. Patrol bases aren't very big, mind you. When someone would 'go' they would be in full view of everyone else in the base.

Not to get too graphic but you could tell what kind of MRE they had eaten the night before. But at that point nobody cared. Would a female do it? Would I want to witness a female do it? Short answer, to accomodate females, they will have to alter doctrine. That will get people killed.

Mountain Phase of Ranger school nearly killed me. If I had gotten recycled that phase I would have had to quit. You’re walking straight up mountains with a huge ruck. There is no way any female who joins the Army can do it.

There are approx 1.8 million people in NI. There are approx 10,000 personal carry permits for handguns. That's about 180 people carrying out of every 10,000 people.

I know a bunch of Army SF guys. Nothing special in terms of height/weight. Normal guys. They say that’s who tends to pass Selection. Some guys get huge after they pass, but not during the course.

Some perspective: the 152,000 constitutes only 11% of total students. Attendance (88.5%) was only 1 percentage point less than a normal January day. 40% of bus routed are still operating as normal.

Also, in the story pic, the soldier is a lefty and the ejection port is on the left side. In the Indian soldier pic, the ejection port is on the right side. I would hope it would be an option, since a lefty shooter would not be able to use a bullpup rifle with the ejection port on the right side.

What’s the effective point target range on that thing? Can’t be more than a few hundred yeards. Not good for open fighting. Thankfully the AK is terrible as well in that arena.

When I was at Fort Benning I went to the Men's Warehouse for some suits. The manager ID'd me as military, of course, and said that they have a standing 50% discount for military, although they don't advertise it. He said he fought corporate for permission to offer it. I got $2600 worth of stuff for $1300.

Now I'm back in NYC. When I got something from Men's Warehouse the other day I inquired if they had a military discount. They do not. Which is totally fine. They aren't four miles from a military base so it doesn't make sense for them to have one.

If one of my soldiers ever griped about not getting a discount I would make it clear that is not an acceptable outlook.

I have no problem with a guy losing his spot due to injury. This is a meritocracy. The better man plays. The issue is that if guys think they'll lose their spot if they 'only' have a concussion, they will be less likely to report the symptoms.

Adultery is illegal if you are in the military. It’s in the UCMJ (Uniformed Code of Military Justice). Adultery is on the books in some states as well but rarely, if ever, prosecuted.

Believe me when I tell you that our internal affairs bureau will get the truth and will crucify this cop if it was a bad shoot. There is so much oversight it’s scary. The ESU cops are some of the most elite we have. If they pulled a car over there was a reason for it and they would have been livid.

Not that the press would know but she still probably has her NYPD ID card which is different from a badge. If she was holding anything out the window it was that.

Um, the manual cannot cover 100% of circumstances. These kids were driving like lunatics. That much I know. At that time of night in that area having your weapon out is absolutely warranted if need be. Shooting it, however, is another matter.

Couple of things I get from this article:

This particular NYPD unit NEVER does car stops. Ever. For them to pull this guy over he must have been driving like an absolute lunatic. And this is not a back country road we're talking about.

The off-duty cop is a criminal herself who is on her way to being fired. She is technically still employed but she does not have a gun or shield. Can't trust her at all.

As for the shooting I can't say what happened. If he reached under the seat, then he reached. The cops were definitely warranted to have their guns out if they had to pull the car over in the first place. But that's all I can say at this point.

Maybe they could cut spending in other area...
