OK, I read your link to the NRA PVF article. It adds political procedural details that were omitted from the WaPo article. Thanks for the link. I’m not one that makes a habit of posting from the WaPo and the broad scope of the article meant they didn’t give the deeper details on Maggart. The article still has value to show the power of the NRA to bring previously-reliable pols to accountability. That’s a valuable message in the current circumstances and the reason behind my posting.

Toomey does seem determined to see how far his previous positive NRA ratings will stretch in PA. If he reads this morning's WaPo article that recounted how quickly the NRA pounced on a TN state legislator that long held an A rating, it might give him pause. WaPo Article

Good thoughts in that article on staging levels of gear to the mission/goal. Keeping those thoughts in mind can do much do reduce the EDC to the real necessities while having the other items either close at hand or able to be recovered quickly.

Back in the 70s, I and some of my college dorm floormates used to conduct impromptu, low-tech versions of this outside the dorm dining facility after the evening meal. When I read the WSJ article yesterday, it immediately brought to mind this advice to Princeton women, written by a woman exactly my age. Your wise saying should have been part of her advice as it seems corollary to her own.

Yes, that’s been our experience.

The former Congressman makes excellent and valid points but since he’s also a retired Army officer, he also knows the ways of that bureaucratic organization when they want to shut somebody down. The mere fact that an LTC was an instructor in the War College shows he was considered a rising star, along with already being an O-5. Keeping him from a battalion command means he probably will fail selection to O-6 and be out the door within the next 3-4 years. He’ll get his retirement, of course, but he won’t achieve what would have been his without the interference of the Islamists.

They apply tea tree oil after every bath and twice a day. It certainly appears better to me.

My granddaughter has had issues with baby eczema since birth (she’s now 16 mos.) and her parents have found tea tree oil to be an effective topical treatment. Their doctor is also looking at diet but they haven’t settled on a possible cause.

I’m going to take this as a good sign for the national council vote in coming weeks. If this comes about to retain the current policy, the fall out on the corporate funding side is going to be tough to overcome.

A couple of weeks ago I was in a Kansas country cemetery for the burial of my dad’s youngest sister, the last of those 10 children in that generation. Walking along the cemetery lane toward the gravesite, I found an unexpended 20-ga. shotgun shell that had obviously been dropped by a hunter who had parked in the cemetery to go quail hunting. My cousins and I had a good laugh at the memories from me showing that shell to the group at the end of the minister’s remarks and prayer.

I guess somebody from CT would have been running for their lives.

Since I’m in OK, I fully understand TX and its basic conservatism. I also understand teachers and their basic makeup since my wife is a retired speech-pathologist that worked in elementary education for 28 years. Some are clearly conflicted between the educator “hive mentality” and their innate conservative nature. Life is full of choices and some create unexpected challenges.
