When stationed in Alaska the same old guy that got me hooked on the 35 Whelen controlled round feed told me if your fishing use a double barrel 12 ga with #00 buck and put it up his snout as your only gonna get two shots off if your calm accurate and lucky.

Belonged to the McConnell AFB Aero Club getting my Private Pilots license and on my 3rd solo flight just approaching the pattern at 1500 feet from Red Wing Airport in Agusta Kansas the prop froze . Called the tower declared and emergency stating I was a student pilot on 3rd solo and I was coming straight in on the east to west taxi way to land NOW . The tower deployed the crash trucks and the flight safety officer and he tried to say that is a closed taxiway to not use it . I told him gravity is in charge sir .
Turns out that taxiway was reserved only for PNAF birds (primary nuclear air craft) the delivered Titan Missile’s warheads to the bomb dump which I was well aware of being a FNG EOD tech the taxiway I saw in front was about a few hundred yards away.
I saw more sky cops than I did firetrucks as I set down perfectly not even bounced once . Security Police didn’t give a damn . They surrounded my Cessna 172 with peacekeeper armored vehicles and as I was turning every thing down they snatched my ass out and down on the taxiway cuffed me before the crash trucks and flight safety officer could tell em what was going on .
Not as sexy as a SR71 story ...... but mine .... :o)
