  • Corona "age at death" in Georgia - interesting

    04/02/2020 2:21:05 PM PDT · by slouch-no-more · 70 replies
I live in Carroll County, GA, about 35 miles west of Atlanta. The state of GA publishes the age, sex and whether or not there were underlying conditions for every one of the 139 deaths in GA (as of yesterday). I ran a spreadsheet on this data and discovered the following: Average age at death was 69.8 years. About 60% male, 40% female. Of the 139 deaths, 95 had underlying conditions, 4 had no underlying conditions, and 44 were "unknown". How about your state?
  • Is the famous Stone Mountain sculpture the next Confederate symbol to be removed? How?

During the past couple of years we have witnessed an important part of our history being erased, as one Confederate statue after another is removed from the public eye, in order not to "offend" anyone. Ridiculous, I know.. Personally, I find these efforts at denying history to be stupid and insulting, but it got me thinking.. What about Stone Mountain in Georgia? This awesome mountainside sculpture depicts three Confederate figures during the Civil War: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Has anyone here heard anything from the crazy left about destroying this? Surely they believe it's a racist...

September 14, 2006 Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. Those are by far the best numbers for the President since mid-February.

  • Question for Marine or Marine Vet who knows the M-16/AR-15

Semper Fi! My son has just joined the Marine Corps under the delayed entry program, and he'll report for basic training in July of next year. I would like to do everything I can to help him prepare. He's a crack shot already, but I want to work with him on using a weapon that is identical or similar to the current issue M-16. I think the AR-15 is very similar (except it's not automatic, of course). Am I correct? What would you recommend that I purchase for him? Your advice is greatly appreciated - thank you!

I was watching Fox news yesterday and heard the announcer - can't recall her name - say that as many as twelve other planes had "Arab looking" men in cockpit jumpseats at the time all flights were cancelled/grounded right after the attack on the WTC. I have heard nothing about this since. Did I hear this wrong? Did anybody else hear this?

Hello Friends, By now, you've probably seen the famous map (www.federalist.com/e2000.html) that shows the county by county breakdown of Gore counties vs. Bush counties. However, one of the most telling statistcs from Mr. Olson's analysis is the last one! Here they are: ============== FOR THE RECORD Here are a few interesting statistics from our breakdown map of counties won by George Bush and Albert Gore as compiled by law professor Joseph Olson. The last item is, perhaps, the most telling. Counties won by Bush: 2,434 Counties won by Gore: 677 Population of counties won by Bush: 143 million Population of ...

  • Disenfranchisement - a new word?

Does it seem to you that with every major political event, a new word seems to be born? Prior to the election, I had never heard the word disenfranchisement. In fact, I can't find it in my dictionary. Any idea where this word came from? I'm betting it was "made up" by the liberal press, or by the DNC, or by someone like Jesse Jackson. Comments? Anybody know the history of this word?Thanks..

  • Results of Election at Villa Rica High

Greetings, fellow Freepers! This report is brought to you from my hometown of Villa Rica, GA (35 miles west of Atlanta). Yesterday, Villa Rica High School conducted its own "election". This school has a student population of about 1000 (for what its worth, the racial demographics are mixed, almost 50-50 black-white). My daughter - a senior - shared the results with me as soon as she got home. The result? George W. Bush, with about 75% of the vote. The freshman class - about 300 students - went 100% for Dubya. Totally unscientific, I know. Yet, this was extremely gratifying ...
  • Anybody See Schwartkopf on MSNBC - Gulf War?

Hello fellow freepers. Last night MSNBC aired a two-hour special on the Gulf War hosted by General Schwartzkopf. I thought the show was well-done. In particular, I was impressed with the interviews with President Bush, Dick Cheney, and Colin Powell. Mr. Cheney came across as confident, competent, and strong. Opinions?

Post 2nd debate greetings to my fellow freepers! I'll make this short. I'm a Freeper who lives near Atlanta, GA. This past Monday was my 50th birthday, and as a surprise my dear wife Becky asked me to hop in the car because we were going somewhere. Thinking she was taking me to lunch, you can imagine my surprise and delight when we drove all the way to Memphis, TN for three days of fun and music in and around the Rock and Roll and Blues capital of our great nation. But get this.... We did lots of driving around ...

Deperately seeking to attract paying customers before its craven surrender to the Clinton-Gore administration goes into effect, Smith & Wesson decided to hold a "Summer Savings Promotion" sale. The beleaguered British-owned handgun maker offered customers a $50 rebate on every new S&W handgun they bought between July 15 and August 31. To motivate the sales staffs of its stocking dealers, S&W dangled a $10 cash bonus for every gun sold, and therein lies the rub...S&W sent its dealers a letter saying: "Sales personnel will need to keep track of their sales on the attached claim form. All requested information must ...
