A Tampa group that has been combing through voter rolls says thousands of felons are registered to vote in Florida. Tampa Vote Fair says it found the names of 21,582 felons on voter rolls statewide and 1,375 in Hillsborough County. The group says its research shows some of the felons voted while behind bars.

In a letter sent to Mitt Romney’s campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, this morning his counterpart on the Obama campaign, Jim Messina promised to let up on their criticism of Mr. Romney for not releasing more of his tax returns if he releases five years worth of returns. Mr. Messina said this offer should address any “fears” on Mr. Romney’s part that “that the more he offers, the more our campaign will demand that he provide.”

U.S. consumer spending was flat in May for the first time in five months as Americans eased off on vehicle purchases amid tepid wage growth, but subsiding inflation pressures should keep demand supported. The Commerce Department said on Friday April's consumer spending was revised down to show only a 0.1 percent rise instead of the previously reported 0.3 percent gain.

The markets have been awaiting this day since Moody’s put under review for a downgrade the credit ratings for 17 large global banks back in February, including five of the biggest U.S. financial firms by assets. Factory activity in the U.S. mid-Atlantic region contracted for a second month in a row in June as new orders tumbled, a survey showed on Thursday.
