There are many countries that have greater per capita levels than those enjoyed by Americans today. Doesn’t mean they don’t bow to Washington or pay tax to them in the form of ‘investment’. Doesn’t mean the Washington elite don’t look down their collective noses at them. India is poor in wealth not in power.

India doesn’t pay tax to a foreign power, neither did the Americans after their civil war.

China does. That is the difference between the two.

Your right, china is better suited to be part of the western economic model. china wishes to emulate japan and germany. India wishes to remain sovereign. The goals are different

India is not traditionaly a willing exporter, very little reasons/products exist for it be a large importer with the exception of energy or gold(for religious reasons).

The Indian government prefers waiting for indiginous trade models to emerge. Ever see a bunch of garbage on a new road? Economic models, like currency models, are deceptive. There is a reason why practically the entire planet, including the chinese, use Indian mathematical models and number systems instead of roman numerals or the chinese equivalent.

It is not Indian investment/money tied up with the future of the western economy. Like the citizens of America who are forced to insure the mistakes of their wealthy on wall street, so to is Beijing forced to insure the lending of credit to its customers in perpetuity.

Chinas future was decided the minute it started building huge ports and cargo ships without holding any territorial rights outside of China.

India is free and poor. Not so long ago the europeans looked down their collective noses at the free and poor americans.

It is unfortunate that our weapons have become largely symbolic to reassure the English of their authority in the past and presently the Indian government of the same fears. Because individuals get used to such environments it takes some time for them to recognize that they are within the house of the Brave, not the jealous and petty.

The right to bear arms in America has a greater function than mere survival, it forces the individual to recognize that it is not a fictional ‘state’ that has authority, but every able, armed individual working in concert. It forces true democracy and responsibility and is a very real parallel to the Sikhism's own view on the importance of Sangas(Ancient Indian republics that the Sikh Gurus wished to revive)

Thank you for your support, but personally, if it isn't already the case, arm yourself and take up true democracy and responsibility. Encourage others to do the same. The more people who do this, the less chance there is of weak minded people (like the Wisconsin shooter) who are fundamentally never true adults because they no more recognize the individuals role in upholding truth and justice than a herd animal understands their bondage to the farmer—they only see different forms of collectives and scramble in the hope that the collective that most resembles them will treat them with love and kindness.

They don’’t care what principles are universally right and true, only which collective mothers them more. They remain children and react as children, throwing fits when they don't get their way.

Brother, stop this. The point you are trying to make is only possible if the degree to which Indians are blamed collectively for individual incidents was intentional on the part of the American people. It is not.

They are not their Media. Americans feel themselves misrepresented by their own media to the rest of the world to the same degree that you feel Indians are being misrepresented.

Speaking as a Sikh, I don't feel the US government should be apologizing for the Wisconcin shootings. Some people are upset because they are grieving and so are lashing out at all and any targets. That doesn't mean that the US Government has to address this formally outside of offering personal condolences. The media is following its own objectives as usual judging by the heading.

Also for the record, all Sikhs believe in the right to bear arms. It is a key Sikh philosophical view, a free people is an armed people, anything else is bondage however soft the shackles. Anybody who wishes to use this tragedy to enforce laws which take this right away is being foolish.

The right to bear arms is something Americans should feel proud of. It is one of the principles that Sikhs Admire Americans for having faith in.

Chardi Kala, people have died, that doesn't mean we all have to turn into cowards, forever scared of the very world we live in. Have faith in God, celebrate their lives, get armed and welcome the next attempt.

I find that this is a positive thing concerning call centres based in India—many Tech people in India are tied to this sort of thing and outside of Indian companies who are offering their services to the international market, this practice has been frowned upon in India in local buisness circles for some time.

Lots of local projects are put on hold because the right type of people are not available—shifting this type of buisness to the phillipines is a good compromise.

Hopefully the practice of rellocating most of the call centres if not all to the phillipines will continue.
The benifit of making sure the phillipines is not too heavily tied economically to China is a positive dual development in light of the recent south china sea confrontation.

I Don’t know where you got the idea that India didn’t industrialize on the basis of not wanting change. When the English took over, India was the worlds leader in steel production and casting technologies—the english enforced a strict policy that no foundry was to exceed four workers, no mechanical production of fabrics or goods, and no production of pumps/machines. I won’t even go into their policies of not allowing any local policing of roads(while simultaneously banning arms of any kind) or building/maintaining/repairing water flood systems for local roads and bridges and basically forcing a huge part of the Indian economy to die so a sub-sect could be taxed by opting for the only other protected movement of goods available outside of major cities( English rail).

The Indian economy is recovering from the english policies just as the Americans did after independence—given the young age of most of their population in comparison to other nations, they will most likely surpass their original position in the world economy prior to english occupation. I just don’t like the word ‘superpower’ being used—all war games aside, USA is the sole superpower and will remain so for a good part of the future.

Judging by how loudly Washington keeps proclaiming they want Dehli to join them strategically coupled with Dehli’s proclamations of autonamy—the Strategic patnership between the US and India seems to be in deep full swing.

Such a simple tactic of diversion....

you would be surprised at how much the worlds defense sectors keep testing their counterparts—in war technology/capability is not offered unless some sort of test/infrastructure response is being carried out.

Does India have the capability of these missile systems? The real question, the big question for countries around the world in my opinion—has India approached a level of technology where an opponent could not engage simply because countering a bluff might result in collateral damage that would exceed the gains sought?

On this level reside the various weapon systems that are said to exist but cannot be verified—such as atomic weapons for one—or stealth fighters. After all making a huge mushroom cloud of gas appear is not really the same as seeing the destructive power said to exist from such an explosion.

I can see that to an outside observer, people tend to see a ‘color’ gradient from north to south India. What many don’t know or are unable to regularly see on TV or movies is that North East India is made up of Mongoloid/oriental populations. The Skin variations in North west India/Pakistan has much more to do with the Offspring of South Indians and these groups than anything to do with ancestral populations of south Europeans. It is quite probable that further offspring between Semitic populations during the prominent silk road periods in the Punjab areas of India/Pakistan has given them a more Mediterranean appearance.

As to the languages of North Europe, the surviving languages Basque and Uralic—yet these hint at greater extinct languages that existed prior to a language change in the region. There are no extinct languages in India—they are all related. Sanskrit derived languages are spoken as far as Bali Indonesia so I don’t find it improbable that while languages can spread—significant genetic changes are not the only method of spreading them.

Believe me Mr Logan, If there was direct scientific proof that Indians are derived from ancestral populations, also related to Europeans, many Indians would be open to the idea and like to know and find out what their ancestors were about, how they lived, what they believed and found important.

You should read more history. Even the Mitanni worshiped Vedic, not Persian or Sumerian Gods--the names of the Mitanni are clearly Indian Sanskrit. Ancient India included large parts of today's Iran/Persia as well as Afghanistan. It is in these places that Alexander was stopped after defeating the Persians. If you push back the dates before the known Persians you will clearly see that groups of Indians from Today's Iran/Persia migrated to the middle east and Egypt. Much later, people from these areas went onto establishing coastal cities and empires around the Mediterranean sea--the Greeks, Phoenicians, Carthaginians etc etc. Because these people had already been influenced by Vedic religions and language in the middle east, their languages and religions/gods are mirrored on them. You will observe that Northern European languages are not Indo-european. When the English and Germans found the link, the major problem became that European civilizations were established by immigrants. Protestant and Catholic issues also influenced their decision as they did not want to lend more historic authority to the Italians. They went the Tomato route of instead saying that the civilizations of all known ancient metropolises were established by the 'Aryans' a term that in Sanskrit means anyone Noble, a gentleman, a good person. Where did the Aryans come from? they simply picked a middle place between the Europe and India. The problem is that only Indians used the word Arya to describe themselves. Ancient Persians used it, but again ancient Persia was part of India--even their ancient religion Zoroastrianism, is derived from Vedic scriptures and names, hence the use of the term. All of these reasons are sufficient for Indians to be upset at the notion of 'Aryans' coming to India--the real reason is more complex. Indian religions are not like Abrahamic faiths--that is, they don't have prophets sent by God--just Teachers/Gurus/Buddhas/Tīrthaṅkaras. These teachers/gurus/Buddhas/Tīrthaṅkaras are exalted because they speak the truth. The literal truth. It is the truth because in Ancient India it had to be debated in the same fashion as modern scientific proofs in the west are used today. (This is a major reason why many modern physicists read the Vedas because of the descriptions on the nature of the universe) Because there is nothing in the texts, stories or traditions of ever having originated anywhere outside of ancient India--just the opposite infact of clearly stating that Indians are from India--the result is that basically, Europeans are saying their teachers/gurus/Buddhas/Tīrthaṅkaras are lying. It shatters the foundation on which Indian thoughts on human nature and God progresses. The English used it for this very function as they wished to convert Indians into Christians and were having difficulties in the debates on why conversion was beneficial. The same thing had happened to the Muslims in India, a big reason Sufism is so like Dharmic not Abrahamic faiths. So you see, if today people accuse Jesus of lying, Christian people would be upset. Similarly Indians are upset at the idea of their Teachers lying. Throw in the current DNA mapping of modern Indians which show negligent outside genetic material and the show becomes popcorn worthy.

Try to see it from Wuli’s point of view—American Governmental policy is frequently not on the same wavelength as American public opinion. Wuli is referring to American public opinion—from this point the feeling is that democracy lost an opportunity to evolve instead of just rigorously defending the core principles when India didn’t join Democracy’s, not America’s Goals.

I personally believe Americans should be supported by Indians, not necessarily American Governmental agencies but Americans themselves because for better or worse many Americans do believe in freedom of faith and open discussion of ethics—something which is very Dharmic and hopeful for future generations on this small planet.

Having said that I think maybe the problem is caused by Indian leadership seeing the west, with all its history, when maybe they should see America as itself.

A civilized opponent? Speaking as an Indian, let me reassure you that the British were anything but civilized during their time in India. Ghandi succeeded because of a very prevalent myth that the British had been spreading and teaching across their empire at the time, a myth that I am surprised to find exists even today judging by your comment. In its most simplified form the myth maintained that Europeans were civilized and so rightfully have the authority to rule wherever they are. Any opponents to their rule were uncivilized/barbaric, a fact they loved to prove by showing how any opposition only fought using gorilla tactics(civilized warfare is of course fought only by standing armies), and like any wild beasts stumbling onto a farm they needed to be corrected in their misguided efforts against them(Bayoneted corpses floating down the Ganges). Ghandi simply used the myth against them by showing that when one offers no violence, only non cooperation, the ‘civilized’ British would react exactly how you feel the Japanese would have reacted. The British got fixed in a corner of their own making. If Europeans are not civilized or noble, from where did their supposed authority to rule India come from?

That would be the only conclusion that a moral person could reach. And since Any army is at its core, from its own perspective, moral, the British could not keep control of the Indian Army. And so they were forced to leave.

Regarding Glenn becks obsession with Ghandi, it is obvious that he is trying, clumsily in my opinion, to show the model of capitalism followed by wall street lacks civility, much in the same way Ghandi’s words exposed how the British lacked civility.

If the French weren’t so very convinced that Europe could survive as an entity WITHOUT US support this would not be happening. I think your missing the point. Mumbai is a very poor city with a large amount of very, very rich people. All things said, it is easier for a rich American to show off their wealth, then a rich Indian. The building is designed to look ugly.

I know a lot of people don’t really consider India as being eastern but it is, on a very fundamental level. An old Indian saying is—One should not show his diamonds to a greengrocer.

If you observe this building amongst all the other buildings it is located near—you will not see a very big difference. And that’s the point.

I think that’s what confuses westerners the most, everybody keeps saying India is getting wealthier, but unlike china, they don’t see it reflected in the cities or infrastructure.

That’s because its all on the inside. If it was on the outside—a lot of interesting magicians would appear out of nowhere and disappear with everything of value, with the local police appearing not to have seen anything more than an interesting trick.
