I actually supplement my sodium intake daily - I consume 2 bouillon cubes before working out each afternoon. I don’t eat more than 20g to 25g of carbs each day and my kidneys excrete sodium immediately. Absent my lunch of 2 bouillon cubes each day, I can’t make it through a workout without a massive headache and low performance.

But, I do agree that most Americans consume far too much sodium. People who eat ANY processed food whatsoever get too much.

True, most low info voters view the IRS as "where my taxes come FROM - ie the place that mails them a check once per year. None the less, we have to make an effort to show as many people as possible how it affects them - we cannot just lie down and say "whatever" and let it pass.

Outside of retired police and firefighters, Detroit has 18,500 retirees currently collecting benefits from their pension plan. Orr is requesting docs from the pension plans, as we speak, because it had been assumed that the pension plans were the bright spot (ie fully funded). It turns out that, using his back of the napkin calculations, they are over $1 billion underfunded and the city will be forced to cough that up on top of what they have been shorting in payments to their own pension funds. There is no way to save it without a massive federal "gift" or bankruptcy. Unfortunately, with the current administration, I wouldn't rule out them dumping it on the taxpayers as a precedent with IL and CA coming up next...

I self-report my purchases and pay taxes to the state, and always have. I realize that the majority of people don't, but at the same time, I don't pay my local taxes when I drive across the border of MO or OK to purchase anything at a lower tax rate (AR has one of the highest average sales taxes - 8.5%). Brick and mortar retailers cry about people coming in to browse and then purchase on-line, what about all of the people that do research on-line and then purchase at a brick and mortar retailer? Aren't the brick and mortar retailers gaining an advantage based on the assets (web) of web retailers? Amazon stands to make a fortune by selling the compliance software - which they already have completed. They will subcontract the checkout services from other web retailers and turn a handy profit.
