I would just like to note how refreshing it is to see something from a celebrity that is actually cogent. Today, in 21st Century America, a Hollywood celebrity actually wrote a well researched, factually accurate, intelligent, thought provoking article.

I'm now of the thinking it is more because they fear God ... and what might come in the after life when they have to answer for their deeds

Do they fear God's judgement-- alone at night possibly, when faced with something like cancer or any of the countless reminders of how we are powerless, of how depite being like God we are definitively not God, almost certainly.

The real fear of God is not their own but yours. They fear your belief in God and how it will interfere with you believing in the supremacy of the State-- a State they control. If nothing is God's then all is rendered onto Caesar.

Sounds like the typical ugly GOP primary when the GOP candidate will have little chance in the general election. It's a shame.

Not at all. Spencer was a perfect gentleman towards McFarland the whole campaign, and McFarland never really attacked Spencer. Mostly they each focused on why they were better able to beat Hillary.

I'm from Yonkers. I can't say that I know Spencer well, but I knew him casually before he was Mayor. He was a genuinely nice guy and becoming Mayor didn't change that. As Mayor you could stop him on the street and he'd take the time to listen and if you brought up a problem he'd take care of it. He's got my vote and not just because he's opposite the Hildabeast. I for one would love to see a regular American in the Senate.

I worked in a union and as a manager of union employees.

You can't give good employees raises or bonuses because it is a union. Basically, time becomes currency of incentive. Despite the fact that it is technically not allowed, time off was given as a reward all the time.

My attitude as a manager was that if the work got done and I was meeting my objectives I was happy to let people go home early or sit in the lounge on a Sunday and watch the football game. It wasn't only me, this was common practice. It is really the only way to make your objectives as a manager the objectives of otherwise unmotivated union employees. You can try hard nosed enforcement and it works to a large degree, but one day you will need to ask those same workers to go above and beyond and they won't for a hard nose. This under the table bargaining happens in one form or another everywhere there is a union.

The key difference in this story compared to other similar ones is that the supervisor is punching the timecards. If the workers were punching time cards for each other they were running a scam. When the boss does it, he's usually buying productivity with time off.

When things are running smoothly this kind of thing tends to get swept under the carpet. I would say there is something more to the story that we don't know.

    Hmmm...

    In no particular order:

    http://www.usmc.mil

    http://www.navy.mil/

I agree with you, and I'm getting pretty tired of the myriad of efforts to justify or rationalize the silence. Can you imagine the Pope or Billy Graham calling for an ecumenical council to decide if strapping bombs to your own children to kill someone else's is consistent with Christian theology? Can you imagine any Christian group tolerating a claim that Jesus wanted citizens of the US to send our children strapped with bombs across the Canadian border until they gave us Montreal?

This is insanity. No decent Christian, Jew, or Buddhist would ever silently tolerate it being done in their faith's name.

The Muslim silence is deafening. It isn't my job, an American President's job, or any living non-Muslim's job to defend the peace-loving name of that "religion." I could care less whether it is cowardice or benign agreement that evokes the silence; the silence is the willing surrender of their faith to murderers.

Face it, if Islam is a peaceful religion and most Muslims are decent folk, then the only thing they would need to do in order to let the rest of us know it is actually bother to profess their own faith-- apparently that's too much to ask.

I've been told all the bones before homo erectus ever found will fit easily into one phone booth. Hard to conclusively base millions of years of evolution on so little evidence.

My thoughts exactly. It seems every new article on evolution is about how some new fossil discovery changes everything we thought we knew. How about these scientists just come clean and say we have fewer than a dozen skeletons from a period of 4 million years and thus we don't know squat.

They're like a bunch of mathematicians who assumed 2 + 2 is 5 and are wondering why there are all these inconsistencies in the mathematical world.

Spencer still lives in Yonkers, unlike the RAT Zaleski he beat who put his house on the market the same day he lost the election.

I'm worried about the future "virtual representatives." 60-90 million legal immigrants also get counted in the Census for purposes of apportionment.

We are currently at about 650,000 people per House seat. Add 90 million to the population and we're at 850,000 per House seat. That 90 million non-citizen population will therefore account for almost 106 seats in the House and 106 electoral votes when it comes to elect a President. The actual math is a little more complicated, but not that far off. We are looking at a bill that will shift Representation in the House and power to elect the President from citizens in States without immigrant influxes to States with high immigrant or illegal alien populations creating a huge disproportion in the value of a vote.

Considering the way redistricting works and that aliens --illegal or legal -- tend to concentrate in geographic areas, many of those House members will be in districts that are mostly non-citizens. So the US citizens in Montana will get a virtual representative in Los Angeles.

What tipped you off?... The "employ idiots" thing?

If it said employ "useful idiots" it would be a sure thing.

Actually the next paragraph pegs the Dems exactly: "The most ignoble will become leaders, liars will be considered truthful and the traitor as trustworthy." Has Clinton and Kerry written all over it.

So if I understand this correctly, the Twelfth Imam will return when the Democrats announce their 2006 agenda?

Meanwhile, population geneticist Alan Templeton of Washington University in St. Louis is overturning ideas about human origins from another angle

I've run across Alan Templeton before. He 's the one that claimed "race" doesn't genetically exist back in the mid 90's. "Race is real in a political, social sense, but it's not biological." He is oft quoted by leftist indoctrination propaganda also known as Social Science College Textbooks.

I haven't researched enough of what he's done to say he's nothing but a hack, but he sure gets cited and quoted by a lot of hacks. His quotes in news stories referencing his work peg him as fact fudging lib, but who believes quotes from AP or the NYT?
