In the Girardian/classical sense, regardless of the merits of the scapegoat, he is still arbitrarily selected to assume the sins of others and then to be sacrificed to bring catharsis.

Or if it is offensive to suggest he is Christ-like, the scapegoat mechanism pre-dates Christ (well, at least as far as human history/chronology is concerned). He is persecuted not because of his legitimate crimes but because the blood of others (those murdered Benghazi) has to be assigned to someone. The power of the State then came down on the guy.

Or, to be completely out there, this scam artist Nakoula is paying penance for the scam artist in the White House.

I find this guy fascinating. And there’s so much delicious irony (I think it’s irony if not don’t beat me up) invovled.

In 2010, Nakoula pleaded no contest to federal charges of bank fraud in California. Nakoula had opened bank accounts using fake names and stolen Social Security numbers, including one belonging to a 6-year-old child, and deposited checks from those accounts to withdraw at ATMs. The prosecutor described the scheme as check kiting: “You try to get the money out of the bank before the bank realizes they are drawn from a fraudulent account. There basically is no money.”
Crimes? Fake names. Fake social security numbers. Creating money out of thin air. Fine line between a disgraced two-bit imprisoned incompetent and the Commander and Chief, eh?

Lowry should have included that the Innocence of Muslims YouTube trailer only had 1000 views on 9/11/2012 before any of the “protests” that happened that day.

To me Basseley/Nakoula is an incompetent exploitation filmmaker, nothing more and nothing less. Something Weird Video probably doesn’t have the guys to distribute the Innocence of Muslims, which is a damn shame.
