This stuff has been happening for several years at this point, with no product and no really independent tests.

I got excited about the test results, because even though I am a skeptic, I really, really wish this stuff would pan out. I have been interested since Pon's and Fleishman's original work.

But in this case, sadly you are correct. I know they are interested in protecting their intellectual property, and in the end, they will either be wildly rich and famouse, or they will end up infamous.

No argument from me. Have known far too many people who have been helped by a psychologist. I think they get a bad rap because the ones we hear about are either the "bad" ones or the Liberal ones.

With a few tweaks, Win8 would be great. Tweak 1, they need to make the Start screen more of an option for desktop use. Then make the Start button an option on the desktop. Boom, basically you would have a souped up Win 7 with optional Start screen interface.

It is conceivable that in this country he had no accomplices. That said, something helped radicalize this guy, and those trips abroad recently probably helped him along the way.

He must have used an equatorial mount. If the shot was a minute long the stars would streak. I know, I’ve photographed the milky way myself in the desert.

You sure about that? About 30 years ago, I remember trying to get streaking star pictures. I remember a 15 minute exposure would result in a tiny streak. I imagine 1 minute would hardly result in any streak at all.

It sounds great but at 100 watts per square meter it would require a great deal of area.

If, and that is a big if, it really is 100W/M, then that is actually quite good.

My math might be off, but for example my house has about a 1400 square foot roof (Larger actually, but from a top view, its about 1400 sq ft). That translates roughly into about 130 square meters. That would mean that a roof of this material could radiate away about 13,000 watts. According to this site (http://www.simetric.co.uk/si_tz.htm), that works out to about 3.7 tons of refrigeration. My house only needs 2.5.

For that reason, and others of practicality, actual system inefficiencies, and so on, I will file this, for now, in the "Too Good To Be True" file.

Its not all MS fault, sure Windows 8 is weird, until you get used to it, but the big reason for the failure of the PC market is the tablet, plain and simple.

For the vast majority of PC users, a tablet would suit their needs fine. Casual browsing, a quick note or comment to a facebook friend, reading emails.. tablets are just fine and more convenient.

There is a gentleman in my neighborhood, whom I consider a friend, who is one such fellow. You would never guess he was gay, he fooled my gaydar for quite some time. He disses on gay guys and gay people all the time for being a bunch of p*ssies, its funny. He is also not a big fan of gay marriage, and can take it or leave it.

What tipped me off? I had a chance to see the inside of his home, and while his appearance is like a regular schmo (slob), his home decor is impeccable, that and he has a little Yorkie named "Bear".. LOL

Not piling on you with the others here, just wanted to relate my personal experience.

Someone very close to was falsely accused of a crime, the PD was beyond incompetent, and the supposed "victim" was himself a lawyer.

I was by my friends side through the while thing, and I can tell you that they scared the holy he77 out of my friend, who plead "No Contest" because they didnt want even the slightest chance of going to jail, because this person had young kids. My friend was, and still is, a Conservative, and we both had thought that most people who pled out were obviously guilty.

What I learned through that fiasco is that there is Justice, and then there is the "Legal System". Very loosely related. Its a game, a sport between both sides, and its dirty when you get down to the nitty gritty.

No way was my friend willing to take a chance. Ended up being under house arrest (ankle monitor) for 2 years, and probation for 5. Even had to pay some money back to the "aggrieved".

It was a total farce, and I will never view the "Legal System" again.

I found a 50" old school large screen TV in someones trash pile. I knew exactly what I was lookin for. Walked away with that big ole lens.

Did some experiments with it, and truth is, it is very dangerous. Also, with this kind of light concentration, you NEED serious eye protection, even the light reflecting off of your target and being scattered back to you, an inflict some real damage.

It was great fun for a while, even used it to cause "rocks" to explode. I got tired of it after a few days, put it away, where it eventually got scratched up and became useless, so I threw it out.

If I had to to it again, I would build a proper frame for it. Probably use it for something more advanced, maybe a small steam generator/engine.

You can stick your head in the sand if you want, but this is most likely the case. You can debate WHY its been happening, but the results are there. It has been a very successful propaganda campaign by the Left, and I think they have won on this one.

I’m a proud and loyal freeper who has concluded the threat from global warming is probably real. I’ve read a great deal from both sides.

There are a few of us around. While I am a skeptic of Global Warming Hysteria, I am also a skeptic of the Denialism that reflexively infects the other side.

I believe that, as the example in your post showed, Technology will lead us to a solution, and we should keep moving forward, instead of backwards, as the ecoweenies would have us do.

Kinda funny that you say that, you know the Tea Party started largely as a libertarian movement against big government and taxes.

I agree with this, and with the way attitudes are going these days about gay marriage, this is probably the best we can do.

Immigration and Gay marriage, going on in the future, are probably losers for the GOP. I hate to say it, but I give up, the culture in general is moving in that directions.

Its a social contract. This is probably ultimately how it should be decided. Not in courts.
