This website is great but we are very small these days, a few thousand active members perhaps. We are the choir and the preacher combined. An echo chamber.

I assue you, very sophisticated polling is causing this change in course for Romney. Do you remember the human interest video that came out after the election? Mitt has not authorized replays because it still has legs.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, as it was when Reagan ran again after defeats.

We needed Reagan because of the slide we experienced relative to Russia and the cold war. We need Mitt to remind us of our humanity, our faith, our resolve, our responsibility, and our greatness.

He is a Pastor after all and one hell of a determined leader.

It will only be presdent Warren when all you purists do not vote for Romney, because you only agree with him 80% of the time and you must then wish to have a president with whom you agree with 0% of the time, right?

Yea, cut off your nose to spite your face.....

Respecting Charlie Hebdo, the conventional wisdom (NT Times, The Pope, former US military officers, etc.) have already taken to the microphones to state that the terrorism Paris felt was as a direct result of “unfiltered” speech, that it was “extreme”, that it intentionally caused the mayhem and terrorism.

This is pure BS, and is a way to support and force politically correct speech and to demand such from so-called journalists.

This is to keep us silent on the tyranny of Obama and the destruction of our constitution.

In the day, say about 1770 or so, Franklin, Paine, and others made it clear that the King of England was a tyrant and had to leave them alone.

Our present MSM is in support of what the colonists fought (tyranny) starting at Lexington and Concord.

Perhaps you are right; bring on the pitchfork brigade as a start, even a few, to the gates of the White House and demand to see Obama. This will make for a good bit of news, distorted as usual by the MSM as they will call them “teapartiers”, right-wingers, bitter clingers, etc..

The direct action I am speaking of is not showing up some place with pitchforks, unless of course everybody takes up arms, but that will never happen as a first course of action.

Back when the King of England imposed taxes on the colonies to raise money for the King colonists began a campaign of mocking the British soldiers in Boston and making outcasts of them. There was the Boston massacre which was a result of such mockery. The journalists of the day campaigned against the tyranny of the King and made it clear what the issues were. It took a lot of time to persuade even 35% of Bostonians that trouble lay ahead.

A bit later colonists took matters into their own hands through direct action, a sort of guerrilla action in tossing several dozen cases of tea into the harbor. It took years from that time to engage the Brit’s in the “shot heard ‘round the world” at Concord and Lexington.

Eight years later the King and his forces departed only to reengage the colonies in 1812. From the end of the revolution through the second world war the US was in a constant state of conflict somewhere. The present time is sort of normal.

Mark Steyn made a great observation yesterday related to Charlie Hebdo and the massacre. Go to Steynonline and see what he did and what he argues needs to be done in order to defeat the Islamist movement. His argument is that when politically correct or proper civil discourse prevents the free expression of ideas, especially ideas that some people dispise, then it makes for a concentrated target, easily destroyed by those offended. He believes that if every news outlet, every journalist, told the truth about Islamists, that the targets of the offended would be so numerous that it would be futile to act against them with violence. If there was violence it would be an act of war against the greater civil society not a small magazine publication of high visibility.

The American founders, our colonists, began the process of identifying the tyranny of King George way in advance of first shots fired. There was the idea that an act against amateur fighters, the colonists, would be an act against the entire colony.

It is important that in order to change the course Obama is steering we need to present the tyranny in a light that is identifiable to a majority. In that, we must make it clear that Obama must not have the power of the purse. The new congress has already screwed that up.

If there was a balanced budget it would mean at least two things; one, the economy was robust enough to generate enough tax revenue to pacify all of us who have been economically displaced by the tyranny of the New World Order and the “fundamental Transformation” espoused by Obama and others. The second thing would mean that a large segmant of the population would not be pacified because there will not be enough revenue to pay people to go along with him. That is what is going on now; Obama is paying people to be passive and to shut up and go along with the program using borrowed funds. If he did not have that option there would be serious disharmony.

We must clarify the problem, that no keystone pipeline, CO2 emission curbs, Carbon taxes, fighting Islam on the one hand while supplying them with weapons on the other, and so on and so forth, you get the picture. All of these things are to destroy the sovereignty of USA, especially open borders, for that we must fight, but it will take time, and unfortunately, blood.

In times like this, with our own form of tyranny, which evidently we embrace through complacency, these takes on Hitler are entertaining but not constructive.

We need to begin the process of saving the constitution through direct action since votes and words have yet to reverse the course Obama is steering.

Many of the lifts are in remote areas on the mountains and are not manned. Your pass is coded that you insert into a turnstyle sort of gate to enter an area to get on the lift. There are no cattle corrals or other designs to make order. One must stand their ground to get on. Your brand new skis will be run over by the Europeans.

I prefer to use cable cars or mountain trains when possible. It is more civilized.

I remember clearly in the ‘80’s all the Texas and Oklahoma license plates in NH where former oil field laborers were seeking construction jobs here.

NH usually has a steady economy because it does not rely on any major resource other than the results of skilled workers and educational capital.

It is still New Hampshire, one of the free states that still lead the nation in independence and taxation (low taxes related to our wealth), so I disregard the “red” comment.

The county I reside in, Rockingham, a seacoast county bordering on Massachusetts, is perhaps the most conservative in the nation, based on the vote. If Portsmouth was cast aside, it would be unanimous.

The counties that cause NH to vote for the likes of Shaheen are near VT and in the north country. The southwestern counties are inhabited by remnants of former art communes and publishing houses from NY city. The north country are just poor. They used to work in wood products, make paper, and sustain a life within the cost of living. Federal taxes and regulation have changed the calculus.

NH is not red, the voters just realize which political party helps them live based on the present conditions.

While the residents of Rockingham may be very conservative regarding fiscal issues it is the opposite for Coos and other northern counties. They are liberal (IE, enjoy food stamps and heating oil allowances) but are very conservative respecting the second amendment and other issues conservative.

The rich in my county wish to keep their wealth and their earnings but perhaps may be a bit more liberal respecting social issues.

That in a nutshell is the complexity of NH. We are a rich state with a volunteer government, across the board, and for that we continue to rate in the top few of places to live and to raise children. For that, and the fact that where else can one live an hour from the “hub of the universe” a half-hour from ocean beaches, and a short drive to wonderful forests and ski areas?

Per comment 28 it was a whiteout with high winds in the mountains. The roadways have been frozen through up there. Canadian truckers played a large part too. They pay no attention to laws as they routinely make a RT daily to the Boston area.

For those who have traveled that stretch of 93, it is smooth and conducive to run fast, except in bad weather.

In a week or two I will be up there weekly skiing and for the most part the state keeps it down to bare pavement.
