If you all read the article you would see that it is indeed a rhetorical question but with suggested corresponding action. BECAUSE the goverment is wasting money, we can DEMAND accountability. With today's technology, there is simply no reason full and transparent performance records cannot be made available to the public.

HitmanNY - this is my whole point. Successes in the Middle East as a result of Bush's policies will eventually force the Democrat hand.
You are right that we will not see a public announcement by the Dems stating that they were wrong. The admition will be softer and more nuanced but has to be made or serious credibility will be lost on other issues.
If not, the Republicans will have too easy a time to say, "listen - had we done what the Democrats argued to do about Iraq, where would we be today? They have not yet said their approach was wrong. Can we really trust their judgement?"
By not somehow admonishing their mistaken course, the Democratic party cannot effectively oppose Bush policy without the 800 pound gorilla swinging from the branches.

Your 401k proceeds will be taxed the same irregardless of what the money is to be used for. I simply advocate allocating taxes to prop up social security.

Cetainly Dean can raise money. But where does this money come from? His grassroots organization will expect the money to support anti-war candidates. This will become a major issue as Dean is forced to distribute funds to candidates, some running among moderate constituents.
