In medical world, anyone who leaves the hospital without official discharge or signing a “leave against medical advice “ forms, has eloped the facility. Eloped is common hospital jargon.
Milford Regional is about to be merged with UMass Medical Center system. They have destroyed what once was a wonderful local nonprofit hospital. The employees are miserable, used to be that people worked there for their entire careers, but no longer. A very toxic environment.
Under Massachusetts and federal law you cannot withhold treatment, so this crap is just “virtue signaling”.
“They then turn around and handcuff the lady who called and told her she is being arrested for misusing the 911 system and inciting panic.”
A few years ago, someone called the police from a mall in the burbs of Boston, “RIFLE, he has a RIFLE...long and BLACK”...
Cue the Swat Team. Long story short, it was a long black
closed umbrella - the owner just carried it over his shoulder.
Karens are not a new thing.
Mr. R and I fled Massachusetts in July 2021. We see carried firearms all the time in Tennessee - no one blinks...a
properly holstered firearm is normal.
“I think it must be linked to the financial reimbursements they are getting- they probably only get reimbursed for inpatients who test positive at this point. It would be interesting to know.” You are correct - reimbursement is based on inpatient status. Positive test not enough - must be documented that patient has active acute Covid infection. (Positive test can happen after acute phase). Also big difference is admitted FOR Covid? versus another condition and the person has Covid too (especially asymptomatic or mild case).
Things have changed since the beginning of the pandemic when positive test AUTOMATICALLY meant we had to code Covid as principal dx. Now Covid has to match the rules like other diagnoses to be the principal dx.
OK, IF an assailant allowed the homeowner to “go to the bathroom “ (highly unlikely but let’s run with it as true)
WHY IN THE HELL WOULD THE HOMEOWNER NOT LOCK HIMSELF IN with said cellphone and wait safely for the police to arrive. I hardly doubt that there were no bathroom door locks in a mansion.
