And to your point most dogs have the POTENTIAL to kill. I would take 65 to 80 lb pit attacking me than a Rotty that is 165 lbs, as the one I described.

I would much rather stare down a pit because they show signs, more than a Shepard which turns in an instant, with no warnings no growls. Or a Chow.

If this dog were to attack, it would rip and tear it’s “prey” to shreds. It is 4 times the size of a pit.

Weighs 15 lbs less then I do. Sweet dog he is being kenneled for the owner while out of town.

Pits do not get 165 lbs, Little Bears paws are the size of my palms, his canines are 1 1/2 inches long. He is gentle but if trained he would do more damage.

I do not defend any dog that attacks, but I don’t ban a whole breed because of some.

I have 3 dogs and with each of them anybody at anytime can put their hands in my dogs bowls. They DO NOT have food aggression. Your dog seems to have it.

I have an American Bulldog/Boxer Mix and yes some people think Pit Bull when they see him, he can shred a tennis ball and carries a tennis ball and softball in his mouth, he will back off and sit down if you stick your hand in his food bowl.

Your dog needs work. I was fostering a 4 month old puppy and he nipped at the food bowl. He was gone the next day.

I have no natural fear of dogs. I just came from a Vet/Kennel fixing a Bully Breed American Bulldog. They snipped him. He has a 6 inch gash on his side, stitched and a drain above and below to keep infection out. He was docile and even touching his scar you get a look. No growl no nipping.

They are better than Pits but they started out as the American Pit Bull. But they are related to the English bulldog. He is 10 months and 70 lbs already. Once he is sewn up I will be fostering him and once I check any aggresion issues, I may end up keeping this one.

German Shepards (GSD) have bite strength and weight over Pits, Pits have muscle and the ability to handle pain over the Shepards.

The military uses and has used Shepards because of their force, speed, prey drive, The US Air Force found the GSD had the strongest bite force of any dog they used. If they wanted tracker dogs they would go with the Bloodhound. If they wanted mean dogs why not choose Rotty’s or Pits?

GSD are the dogs that ARE TRAINED with humans as the prey for guard dogs. That is inherently why GSD’s watch the movements of humans so closely. Watch a GSD sometime they will watch every move you make, a Pit could care less overall.

And Great Whites as with GSD’s use their size and speed hence the momentum they can obtain to take out prey. Along with the force of their bites. The GSD holds on and swings his body in midair to bring down prey. The Great White slams into its prey. Learn a little and don’t rely on Google. FInd OBJECTIVE studys or research.

German Shepards have more than 1000 Lbs of bite pressure, more than a pit. Germans also attack by their size, weight and momentum. They lunge and use this force, and you can watch them twist their bodies to bring down their intended victim.

Bull Mastifs have more bite pressure.

Rotties have more bite pressure, and tear like a shark, Chows have more bite pressure.

Pits are blamed in attacks when the dog is not a pit, a mixed breed is identified as a pit more often then not.

A lab will go through a plate glass window to protect the family. A Doby or Shepard turns on its owner, there have been a few deaths by dachsunds.

Any dog can attack, most little dogs will bite, should we put them down?

First off, dogs are often misidentified. I have seen a lot of mixed breeds called Pits. German Shepards (GS) are more aggressive. The difference is a GS will not always warn you it is about to attack a Pit will.

Pits were used in the majority of circus and Vaudville acts years ago. As I said they want to please their masters.

I have been kicked by horses, thrown, bitten, yet I still ride. A dog, or a horse can sense fear. You are then less powerful to them.

PIT BULLS have a better temperament than Border Collies, and Dachshunds. Pits can handle pain more than any other dog. As for “fighting Pits” Micheal Vick had 68 dogs, only 2 were put down. 26 are at Dogtown the others have been adopted out. 1 is a hospital therapy dog. And this after they have been used to kill.

The dog “Petey” on The Little Rascels was a Pit.

They do not attack children. Chihuahuas bite more people than Pits. They ARE great loving dogs they fight not because they are bred to do so but because they were bred to please their masters. They were originally hunting dogs. They were used as fighting dogs.

If 66 out of 68 can be rehabilitated it is NOT THE BREED, it IS THE OWNERS.

I have NEVER BEEN bitten by a Pit even a stray, even one yesterday, who was found with cigarette burns on top of his ears, he is a sweet dog even after some A$$hole abused him. Once he heals he will be adopted out, His name is Cheerio, and I can touch the wound on top of his ears and his tail never stops wagging.

Alot of the fighting dogs are fed steroids mixed with their food (making them aggressive) they are abused, they are starved, they are beaten.

I foster dogs, and I own an American Bulldog, all bully breeds are blamed for attacks, yet they are not the ones who start the fights. It seems people would rather believe the myths than the truth.
