  • Karl Rove and his super PAC vow to press on

    11/11/2012 5:58:16 PM PST · by jackmercer · 70 replies
"Rove is pondering new missions for Crossroads to address weaknesses laid bare by the GOP’s back-to-back failures to win the White House and the fact that the party fell short when expected to win back the Senate." "Where until now it battled only in general elections and against Democrats, Crossroads is considering whether to start picking sides in Republican primaries. The idea would be to boost the candidate it deems most electable and avoid nominating the kind of flawed and extreme ones who cost the party what should otherwise have been easy Senate wins in Florida, Missouri and Indiana." "That,...
  • Rasmussen and Gallup

It's time to dispel the Rasmussen myths. First, he was NOT the most accurate in 2008. The articles that state this rank him first because he was the most consistent throughout Oct 2008. But there is no way to tell whether he was more correct in the middle of Oct than the others. Only that last poll can be verified by actual election results. In 2008, Rasmussen was tied for 6th most accurate and beat by others. 2008 actual results: Obama +7.3 Polling outfits closest to 7.3: CNN/Opinion Research - off by 0.3 Ipsos/McClatchy - off by 0.3 Fox News...

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Republican Norm Coleman has conceded to Democrat Al Franken in Minnesota's contested Senate race, ending a nearly eight-month recount and court fight. Coleman conceded at a news conference in St. Paul, a few hours after a unanimous Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Tuesday the former "Saturday Night Live" comedian and liberal commentator should be certified the winner..............
  • The world economy is tracking or doing worse than during the Great Depression

Often cited comparisons – which look only at the US – find that today’s crisis is milder than the Great Depression. In this column, two leading economic historians show that the world economy is now plummeting as it did in the Great Depression; indeed, world industrial production, trade and stock markets are diving faster now than during 1929-30.....

  • Rush Limbaugh Case Against Privatizing Social Security?

This was so quick that I had to go to the website to do a double take. But did Rush Limbaugh make an argument against privatizing Social Security on Friday or was he being facetitious? I am looking at it in context and it seems like he was serious: "Have you heard about this guy in New York that was running this $50 billion Ponzi scheme? He was the former head of NASDAQ. Folks, do you know how many charlatan cheats there are in the financial asset management industry? "It's a crapshoot. This is why I didn't stay in it...

  • Income Gap Is Widening, Data Shows

    New York Times ^ | March 29, 2007 | DAVID CAY JOHNSTON
Income inequality grew significantly in 2005, with the top 1 percent of Americans ? those with incomes that year of more than $348,000 ? receiving their largest share of national income since 1928, analysis of newly released tax data shows. The top 10 percent, roughly those earning more than $100,000, also reached a level of income share not seen since before the Depression. While total reported income in the United States increased almost 9 percent in 2005, the most recent year for which such data is available, average incomes for those in the bottom 90 percent dipped slightly compared with...
  • Who Else was Motivated by Michael Moore to Vote?

    11/08/2004 11:52:04 AM PST · by jackmercer · 47 replies · 1,235+ views
I was just listening to Rush and a guy called in to state how he was motivated to vote for Bush after being repulsed by Michael Moore's ignorant blather in Farenheit 9/11. I had a similar experience. It was early afternoon on election day last week and raining pretty steadily here. I live in Indiana and of course Indiana was assured to go to Bush by a wide margin so I thought no need to go vote since we are in safe territory. My wife and I were watching tv and an ad for the Farenheit 911 DVD came on...

Check out this poll taken by Time 4 years ago this very month: CNN/TIME POLL September 6-7 Suppose that the presidential election were being held today, and it included Al Gore and Joe Lieberman as the Democratic candidates, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney as the Republican candidates, Pat Buchanan and Ezola Foster as the Reform Party candidates and Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke as the Green Party candidates. For whom would you vote? Gore 47% Bush 46 Nader 4 Buchanan 1 Sampling error: +/-3.5% pts After seeing this, I am a LOT more confident that the current Time poll...

This is an interesting little contract. It is a hobby of mine to monitor US Defense contracts every week as I tend to play the markets with this info. I had assumed, as a big Jane's buff, that the Israeli military was pretty happy with their current stock of guided missles. However, upgrading to GPS vehicles for their warheads really caught my eye in light of the recent talk about Iranian reactors. Second paragraph down on the link: "McDonnell Douglas Corp., Saint Louis, Mo., is being awarded a $17,461,828 firm fixed price modification to provide for 840 Joint Direct Attack...
  • Why Support George W. Bush - In one paragraph

    07/23/2004 5:47:51 AM PDT · by jackmercer · 112 replies · 1,730+ views
    NY Daily News ^ | July 23, 2004 | Charles Krauthammer
I was reading an oustanding article when good ole Charlie summed up in one paragraph why ALL voters should throw unconditional support behind GW: "Two years ago, there were five countries supporting terror and pursuing WMDs - two junior-leaguers, Libya and Syria, and the axis-of-evil varsity: Iraq, Iran and North Korea. The Bush administration has just eliminated two: Iraq, by direct military means, and Libya, by example and intimidation." That pretty much ends all political debate for me. He's got my vote! • EXCELLENT Line in Fahrenheit 9/11

I finally brought myself to watch Farenheit 9/11 and while the entire thing made me wanna puke, there was one AWESOME line by George W. that solidified my support for him. Michael Moore went up to em and said: "Governor Bush, Michael Moore" And Bush replied: "Behave yourself will ya?" and then added what in my opinion made the whole movie worth watching: "Go find some real work" HAHAHA I LOVED IT !!!
