The President & Laura have reached out in several meaningful ways, like sharing a meal and a movie, a hug and kind words. That's what real people do when good folks like you and your Mom have had your lives devastated. My condolences to your family.
Thanks so much for writing about the dinner and movie and your Mom for the rest of us. You write well, and your details about china and the food guided my imagination rather than overloaded it. I also pray for the President and his family and I will include again the heroes of Flight 93 and their families tonight in my section of prayers I call "for liberty & freedom."

Patrick O'Brian is a lifelong addiction. Next summer I will start my third read through. If I live to be a hundred and can still see, it will still be on my reading list. Just finished "Over the Edge of the World" by Laurence Bergreen, about Magellan's Circumnavigation. Very good.
Other great reads: Natan Sharansky's "The Case for Democracy"
    Tommy Franks "American Soldier"

Great video of the rally. It was inspiring. I couldn't be there but the feelings of the crowd come through well. Thanks for your considerable effort.

    I am a fisherman, not a fisher.
and a college graduate..my husband went to U of WA for two years but liked commercial fishing better.
We own and run an 80 ft. seiner and fish the North & South Pacific.
We know you are only as good as your last load. (of fish, silly)
The New York Times crossword makes me cross-eyed. My IQ is Mensa grade, but the non-academic kind. ( that's why I shovel squid & sardines around )
I like GW because he is results oriented and he likes to whack brush.
I like GW because he takes it to the enemy. He gets respect.
I like GW because he is loyal and a real American, unlike the high falutin Jean Francois.
My husband and I voted for GW. He is true blue and it was the right thing to do.

Much gratitude to John O'Neil, the Swifties, & the POW's for truth. As a contemporary of yours, I still never knew about the real story of Vietnam, until your book, Unfit For Command, Hal Moore's book "We were soldiers Once...and young" and your movie, Stolen Honor. Then I saw John O'Neil withstand the continual verbal abuse on TV from spittle spewing idiots.
Thank God your true story has been told. I am humbled by your service and honor earned many times over. When the visiting Wall came to Seattle, I tried to pay my respects to all who fell for our country and could not speak. It felt like such a small gesture for such a grand band of men.
Thank you vets. You are my personal heroes. You are amazing men. I wish I could have contributed more than a meazly 50 bucks to your cause.
