    If you read Gerald Posner's new book, "Why America Slept", he says that for the past several years, the only way anyone would be denied a visa is if they had been convicted of an act of terrorism. It is time, in my opinion - long past time, in fact, to close the doors. We need to be much pickier about who we let in.

    Bingo. You hit the nail on the head! Its called "Hubris." Geragos feels he is so smart that he can get anyone off, whether they deserve it or not. Watch him make a mockery of our legal system.

    I will take any wager right now that Scott Peterson will be found not guilty. He will get one juror to be unsure - that is all that it takes.

    The www.revoketeoscar.com is a wonderful website.

    America was founded on violence and fear, as quarrelsome pilgrims fled to the new world, where their paranoia led them to massacre the Indians, then the British, and then each other;

    Michael, EVERY colonizing group behaved in the same way - the French, Germans, Dutch, British, Spanish, Portuguese, etc. The Dutch, in particular, were hiddeous colonizers in terms of murdering indiginous people. Try reading history about colonization around the world.

    The Columbine murderers' violence might have its roots in the fact that one had a father in our military (American soldiers are presumably murderers, and it must rub off on their kids) or that there was a defense contractor in the area;

    Michael, most countries in the world have armies. And yes, most countries have ex-soldiers who go berserk and kill someone. Making the link between an ex-soldier and a crime committed by the child of an ex-soldier has no basis (that is, fatso, you have to emprically test these statements to see if there is any credibility to them). Wager - with all the millions of people who have served in the many armies on the planet, there is probably a lower percentage of crimes committed by children of ex-soldiers than by non ex-soldiers.

    Charlton Heston (one of Hollywood's few upstanding men) is a callous fool;

    Michael, Charleton Heston stands for something, even though I don't agree with it (I may be the only Freeper that is against citizens owning assault rifles). Fatso, you stand for no standards in society. Its easy to criticize others - its harder to take a stand for liberty.

    The terrorist attack on 9/11 is related to past American foreign policy -- in short, America's own fault;

    Michael, the Arabs were committing terrorism as far back as President Washington's administration. Various Presidents paid Arab pirates to retrieve ship crews (and some were murdered anyway), Again, try reading some history first before you make these ludicrous statements. Arabs have committed terrorism in the '70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s and most of it has nothing to do with U.S. policies!

    That was an excellent piece. Robbins and others think it is McCarthyism if people decide they don't want to listen to them and demand for their services falls. But Robbins et al want people not to listen to Bush and have the demand for HIS services to fall (to the point where Hillary or someother Dem is elected to President). Robbins is so puffed-up in his rage that he doesn't see that he is practicing EXACTLY what he claims Fox News and other market participants practice.

    For Robbins, Sarandon, Streisand and others, it is just plain old sour grapes.

    I agree with 99.9% of this article. I really wish journalists and others would stop calling this a pre-emptive war. It is NOT pre-emptive, rather it comes on the heels of 12 years of Saddam totally ignoring the directives and resolutions put forth by the UN. It is the consequences brought on by the actions of Saddam - NOT a pre-emptive strike!

    Meanwhile, I REALLY hope Bush and Blair tell the UN to shut it, withdraw from the UN and go about their business in the reconstruction of a post-Saddam Iraq. Cheers to Blair and Hoon from the US.....I will say I was just in your lovely country a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 20 years - and I'm still as much in love with Britain as ever....
  • Noam Chomsky: Fake Linguist

    Chomsky is not a moron. To call him a moron is silly and completely devalues your point.

    Also, your failure to land an academic post is not because of your opinions about Chomsky. There are few jobs in academics for linguists and there are numerous applicants. If anyone is aware of your "over-the-top" opinions about an obviously intelligent person might want to think twice about hiring you.

    I dislike Chomsky for his political views. But there are numerous intelligent academics who are deluded about the realities of economics and politics. Leave it at that.

    Let's hope that if Saddam unleashes a nuke or biological weapon, Susan whatever her name was from the Onion gets a dose of it. I am so sick of hearing the lies of the left that Bush is doing this for oil. What a crock. If that were the case, we'd have taken the oil in the Gulf War.

    I don't think we should be giving the creep the opportunity. He'll simply run the country from exile. Or otherwise cause trouble. We would have no way of keeping tabs on him. How would we know he wouldn't be running terrorist ops from exile? Let's just go in and kill the guy and get it over with and quit all this yellow-bellied hand-wringing garbage!

    I agree wtih you entirely. My only point is if we're going to ban Christmas celebrations, then everything else has to go as well. Frankly this year, I have been really out there talking about Christmas and Christianity in the schools my kids attend. I do a lot of volunteer work and you bet I've been talking about it. What can they do - fire me? If the Moose-lems get to have special rooms to pray and special clothes, then my kids bloody have a right to talk about Christmas and sing Christmas songs.

    No, I'm not at all a fan of banning. I'm only in favor of banning FAIRLY. If Christians have to have all their holidays and symbols banned, then so does everybody else. What's sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose.

    I don't have any problem with Christmas-related topics being banned from the school as long as the schools are fair about it. In other words, any and all cultural and religious symbols, celebrations, etc. must also be banned. In my opinion, this means even any religious symbolism may NOT be worn - including head scarves by Moslems, if any mention of Christmas is to be banned. It also means pork may NOT be detracted from cafeteria menus - special dietary needs can be taken care of by the parents. Whatever happened to separation of church and state???
  • Deutsche Bank MBS traders mispricing leads to $30 million loss.

    It should be noted that both of these characters report directly to Justin Kennedy, the son of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. How is it possible on a trading desk as small as Deutsche Bank's that Justin Kennedy didn't know in advance that there was a problem? They sit next to each other on the trading desk and talk continuosuly, so it is unlikely that the manager would be completely taken by surprise (unless, of course, he wasn't doing his job by failing to supervise). Mashikian is a trader with a reputation for being honest and Markman is a trading assistant, not someone who could misprice the books by over $30 million. A thorough investigation should be performed and the people responsible (including the supervisor) should be held accountable.

    For a point of reference, Justin Kennedy was hired by Kevin Ingram, the Deutsche Bank mortgage group head that is serving time in Federal prison for allegedly laundering money for Pakistani terrorists during 2001 (but before September 11th). Ingram brought Jesse Jackson into Deutsche Bank when Ingram was fired - allegedly, Ingram received a $10 million settlement.

    I can only add that Kennedy also conveniently forgets that his father was likely selling arms to the Nazis. Moreover, Kennedy lied through his teeth about the Chappaquidick incident - having spent many summers on Martha's Vineyard I can say there is no way he swam the channel between Chappaquidick and Edgartown. It would be difficult at best for a professional swimmer. I fail to understand why anyone, including the press, pays any attention to what he has to say. Particularly since any semblence of sobriety is usually not around.

    He's also connected with a guy named Kevin Ingram who was busted in Florida about 14 months ago for running a money laundering operation for Pakistani terrorists. Ingram used to work at Deutsche Bank in NYC and is now cooling his heels in a Federal Penitentiary somewhere.....
