Ok, I haven't watched Bill O'Reilly in a loooong time as I tired of his bloviating. Switching around channels tonight I accidently came across his show. I was surprised. He was calm, articulate, and actually made sense! When did he get this new persona, I like it. I must say his appearance has changed somewhat since I last watched. I like the new personality and the new look. It's good to have an O'Reilly I can stomach!

Just wanted to share with all my friends here that I lost my mom Thursday night. It was not unexpected as she has been hospitalized for nearly 3 months due to emphyzema, a stroke, and heart attack. I know many prayers have been offered up by folks here, and they are appreciated, and they are answered. I know that my Reedemer lives! What comfort this sweet sentence gives. God is a great God, and His character is Kindness and Mercy, and Goodness. I see that even though it seems the night is dark, He is there!

Forgive the vanity. I was flipping past CSPAN2 and they were showing past convention speeches. I was caught by something that I heard that sounded like a strong endorsement of the Bush policy on War, Peace, and terrorism. Here is the quote: "But peace is not the mere absence of war. Peace is action to stamp out international terrorism." Now the $1,000,000 question is - who said this?

Sometimes a political figure becomes so hated that he can't do anything right in the eyes of his enemies. President Bush has achieved this rare and exalted status. His critics are so blinded by animus that the internal consistency of their attacks on him no longer matters. For them, Bush is the double-bind president. If he stumbles over his words, he is an embarrassing idiot. If he manages to cut taxes or wage a war against Saddam Hussein with bipartisan support, he is a manipulative genius.

Now we know: A) That there are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. B) There was no al-Qaida in Iraq on 9/11. C) From 1993 until we attacked in 2003 -- for 10 years -- there was no terrorism by Saddam against the United States. D) Saddam was not involved in the 9/11 attack on the United States. E) Mideast people are generally of the Islam religion and tribal in culture. The Islam religion is strong -- those who don't adhere are considered infidels. F) Mideast countries don't yearn for democracy -- Kuwait, liberated from Saddam, didn't opt for...

I have a very dear, very liberal friend. We rarely discuss politics at all. I somehow mentioned the need to take on Iraq. She replied that it would be difficult because "Reagan gutted the military." I didn't argue the point, and changed the subject because she is going thru a major crises right now. I wonder if someone can supply me with defense expendature numbers for Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton, and W's numbers too. Also any info on programs and and things that each has done to help/hurt the military. I would like to be able to show her...

Forgive this "vanity" post. I have seen pictures of peace activists with Arafat in his office. I have heard about them confronting Israeli soldiers, but I have not heard one word about them going to coffee shops, hotels, and stores and, other places that suicide bombers target in Israel, to "stop" the "cycle of violence." Could someone tell me, are they cowards? Or do they know that the Israelis do everything possible to avoid innocent bloodshed, while the Arafat terrorists seek it out. Do these peace activists realize that they are supporting the very people who envy what bin Laden's...

Please forgive this vanity post but I was wondering if someone could help me. Every new year I have thought about bying one of those supermarket tabloids, you know the ones that have the psychics predictions for the coming year. I always forget as I get in the grocery stors so seldom. Does anyone have one from this year? I would be very interested to see if any 'predictions' were made that come close to what has happened this year. We have a local radio station with a great morning show here in town, but they bring on this psychic ...
