There is a provision in the law that if the insurance companies suffer losses, the govt will assure them at least a 3% profit no matter what. Everyone gets a bribe in Obamacare.
If its not an emergency, then I am not sure why you are at the ER or why you need to worry about immediate treatment. More and more doctors are willing to take cash at a discount as are urgent care facilities. Frankly in many socialized countries there is a whole tier or private clinics that provide the real high quality care. No one in their right mind would go to the hospital in some of those locations.
I know we like to feel like hospitals are villains, but I have never seen an ER prioritize on insurance. I am not sure they even tell the care providers. If you come in during an accident they wont even ask until you are stable.
Actually no. They must treat you. They rarely turn you away. That is the principle reason behind ACA (other than to garner democrat votes). ACA is not about care, its about covering the free riders that get care on the mandatory treatment rules.
I agree in principle, but the president through executive action can cause us to incur more debt (for example issuing bonds at 1%, they retire, and then we are forced to cover that debt with new bonds at 3%). Theoretically that can be controlled by congress, but practically it can’t. So we always should have a debt limit to curtail the accumulation of unintended effects from past congressional, executive, and judicial decisions.
