Eagle Bridge, NY — July 27, 2004 — W Ketchup today announced a donation of 350 bottles of W Ketchup to the Family Assistance Program of the New Hampshire National Guard. “When George Gielen called to ask for a donation of ketchup for the wives of National Guardsmen serving their country in Iraq, we didn’t hesitate,” stated Bill Zachary, Chairman of W Ketchup. “Between certain recently-released movies and the current political environment, the families of soldiers are not getting the support they should, and we wanted to do our part to help,” he added. “Today we had a picnic at...

ANDERSEN, the accountancy firm caught in the Enron scandal, has recovered thousands of electronic files relating to the Enron audit. The recovery of back-up files — including e-mails and duplicates of paper documents that were shredded — will help the investigation into the collapse of the Houston-based energy trading group. Andersen admitted on January 10 that individuals in the firm had disposed of a “significant but undetermined” number of electronic and paper documents relating to Enron. David Duncan, the lead Enron audit partner, was subsequently dismissed, while three other partners have been sent on leave. Andersen said a systematic search ...

Award Winning Anti-Gun Book An Apparent Fraud An award winning book that was hailed by gun control advocates when it was released last year was based on distorted interpretations of historical records and cited evidence that, in some cases, may have been completely fabricated, the New York Times reported Saturday. Emory University professor Michael Bellesiles, whose book "Arming America: The Origins of the National Gun Culture" caused a sensation with Second Amendment foes last year with its claims that gun ownership in the U.S. was "an invented tradition," may have perpetrated what the paper described as "one of the worst ...

Angry New York firemen storm Ground Zero site By Simon English in New York (Filed: 03/11/2001) NEW YORK firemen attacked police yesterday during protests over the scaling down of recovery operations at the World Trade Centre. Eleven firemen, including a captain and a fire marshal, were arrested as they stormed the wreckage at Ground Zero to demonstrate against plans to cut the number of their colleagues at the site to 24. Protesters flipped wooden barricades on to police before seizing cranes from construction workers to use as podiums to address a 1,000-strong crowd. At the height of rescue efforts, ...

UK Electric Telegraph - Anthrax: the front line is everywhere (Filed: 28/10/2001) There have been only three confirmed deaths, but already the US postal system is near collapse and the recriminations have begun reports Charles Laurence in New York. AS Mark Tierney drives through the security barrier of the US Customs warehouse at Newark Dock, he casts a long look over one shoulder at the gap in the Manhattan skyline where the Twin Towers once stood on the other side of the Hudson. "It's a different world, and that's the way it's going to stay," he says, before steering ...

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard: "Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your word says "Woe to those who call evil good", but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We ...

Conservatives prepare to contest global court By Betsy Pisik THE WASHINGTON TIMES NEW YORK — U.S. conservatives are organizing an assault on the U.N.-sponsored war crimes tribunal, saying President Clinton's surprise New Year's Eve signature on the treaty must be swiftly and surely erased. "It is vital that we take deliberate and unequivocal action," said a spokesman for Sen. Jesse Helms, North Carolina Republican and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Spokesman Marc Thiessen said several options would be open to George W. Bush following his presidential inauguration later this month. "The new president can simply unsign the treaty. ...

Good luck, Mr Gorsky On July 20, 1969, as commander of the Apollo 11Lunar Module, Neil Armstrong was the first person to set foot on the moon. His first words after stepping on the moon, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind," were televised to Earth and heard by millions. But just before he re-entered the lander, he made the enigmatic remark: "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky." Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American ...

HOOVER INSTITUTION HOOVER DIGEST 2000 No. 2 Arnold Beichman The New World Disorder The bloody ethnic conflicts in Kosovo, Chechnya, and East Timor are symbols of the new world disorder, as small-scale civil wars become the new threat to international peace. If the twentieth century might be called the century of totalitarianism, with a barbed-wire fence as its symbol, so the twenty-first century may one day be known as the century of the ministate, its emblem a mass grave pit surrounded by onlookers in breathing masks. Kosovo and East Timor are only the initial battles of subnational secessionist movements that ...

President-elect or cardboard stand-in? You decide: Look hard at the figure on the right of these photographs and he and his expression seem to be eerily familiar — so much so, in fact, that some have jokingly suggested that he is not George W. Bush at all, but a cardboard cut-out of America’s President-elect (Laura Peek writes). Whether it be Alberto R. Gonzalez, left, Mr Bush’s choice as White House counsel, Condoleezza Rice, his nominee for National Security Adviser, or Ann Veneman, his choice as Agriculture Secretary, or indeed any of several other members of his future Cabinet, the ...

Today is Veterans Day - Fly your American Flag. This is how our country, our politicians, our present administration - treated those that gave their lives for their country. Some of the politicians rationalized this by saying Korea was a UN police action. I differ with the politicians that said this. I also challenge them to say it again. These men that died were inducted into the military by force of law, and took an oath to defend the constitution and sovereignty of the United States. For their patriotic efforts they were insulted like this, by having a blue snot ...

I just got an e-mail from a good friend of mine who flys SH-60B’s off the USS Hawes. I thought you might like to read it. "It wasn’t until a few days ago though, that we started doing something that I feel may be the first thing I’ve seen in my short Naval career that has truly made a difference. Right now we’re supporting the USS COLE and her crew in Aden. When the attack occurred we were a day away. Just by luck we happened to be on our way out of the Gulf and headed towards the Suez ...

2000-2010: A New Era In A Traditional World For the last 500 years, since European imperialism began the process of creating a single, global system of international relations, the international system has maintained a certain predictable rhythm and pattern. During each successive era, at least two and frequently more powers have competed against one another for preeminence. From the Portuguese and Spaniards in the 16th century to the Americans, Russians and Chinese toward the end of the 20th century, the world arena has seen an unchanging pattern of great power competition. In this competition, all nations eventually became players, prizes ...

Summary This week in New York, leaders from across the globe gather. But the most telling details are not in New York – but in the myriad meetings that have unfolded in different corners of the world in recent days. Increasingly, world leaders are trying to find ways to work around Washington as U.S. foreign policy increasingly drifts. The only thing missing from New York, it seems, will be the presence of the United States. Analysis An extraordinary gathering of world leaders takes place in New York this week, at what has been called a millennial town meeting, to help ...
