Keene is becoming populated with libertarian activists :) If we're noisy enough, it'll stop seeming so liberal. When I was on talk radio in "liberal" Keene, callers were asking things like 'were the Free State Project was going to help reduce taxes?' :)
"LFOD please stay!!! We need folks like you so bad, but the threat is not Mass. immigrants overall, most of them are conservative according to stats the Union Leader researched last year. The threat is the NH public schools which has driven Live Free or Die out of our kids' minds."
Thank you. I escaped from the People's Republic of California. We've been going wild up here with all the pro-liberty activity. I'm kind of exhausted, actually :) Next week we've planned a zoning protest in Hampton, NH. The big bad bureacrats are harassing a 95 year old woman and her family who are trying to care for her. They're facing a ~$180,000 and having to tear down their garage for made up zoning violations. If anyone's interested in more information, just go to the NH Underground: nhunderground.com and visit the Zoning Protest page, or visit the forum.
It's been one month, and they said it wouldn't last! :) I'm happy. He says he's happy, and I plan to do all I can to keep him that way. It's crazy, but we both recognized what we wanted when we saw it, and didn't want to mess around waiting. I can't even say that we've had an argument yet. Stranger things have happened than this marriage working. Stranger things have happened than the Free State Project working.
Now that I've spent some time in New Hampshire, I can see that it's not going to take 20,000 to make a change here. One state representative that we talked to this weekend was overjoyed at having TWO freestaters help him get re-elected. He credited his re-election to that little bit of help. NH is so different than other places. The state house is open, very accessible. You can walk in and talk to the governor or your reps if you want. No where else that I've lived have I even met a state rep, and here I've already met many. You can call them up at home and talk to them.
We have about 100 people who've moved with the Free State Project so far. With 1000 we'd be making huge changes. 20,000 would completely overwhelm the state politics. It's just now sinking in what a great state we've chosen, and how much difference we'll be able to make.
