Columbia, Missouri is a college town. However, the majority of the anti-war leftists here are not students, but (they’re now older than dirt) left-over, original protesters who still employ the tactics and stunts of the 60’s. They were at it today at the Courthouse to protest the Iraq War and demand the U.S. exit the war now. With the peaceniks so occupied, our little group held support signs for our military recruiters to see across the street from their offices. (Those attending? As I stood across the Post Office this morning, the rain felt cold as ice dripping off my red-hooded windbreaker. Today, I was alone opposing the peaceniks, since the other counter-protesters had various obligations. Alone, or not, it was so good to be there. On the opposing side stood eight (I call them this time SUSPECTS, ha!) Their so-called peace cause is certainly more than questionable. We have not posted about our activities for quite some time. We have diligently countered the peaceniks each week at the Columbia, Missouri Post Office on Saturdays, and on Wednesday afternoons near Providence and Broadway. Missouri weather is so unpredictable. After several days of hailstorms, tornado warnings and generally icky weather, Saturday dawned bright and clear. A few Mid-Missouri FReepers observed this 3rd Anniversary of the terror attacks on America by gathering together countering the peace vigil at the Columbia Post Office.
