  • Contesting the Election: Can Gore Prevail?

Bush has absolutely nothing to be lost by arguing both the Atlanta appeals court case and the US Supreme Court case. Further, there are huge principles to be gained that could be far reaching across the country. Additionally, this operates as a defense mechanism against the probability that some liberal judge in Florida will actually choose to dive into the briar patch and grant one of Gore's points. So, here's the expected points of election contention, and my personal, layman analysis of each: (1) (Gore) Miami-Dade didn't do a recount for us. There is not sufficient time -- unless they ...
  • Expect Massive Military Retirements for Prez. Gore

Expect Massive Military Retirements if Gore Assumes Helm Nobody has really talked about this topic much, but it is one that has been on my mind a lot lately. We can still hear the words ringing in our ears: 'The wheel has turned; help is on the way." But with the vote manufacturing operation well underway on Florida's Gold Coast, we have to consider the possibility of what happens should the wheel be returned to the left of center. Everyone knows what the Democratic party has already done to and with the military. Everyone knows what little respect Clinton has ...
  • THE DECISION - TALKING POINTS

Me and that abominable decision | alancarp
THE DECISION - TALKING POINTS (#1, #3, and #5 are best) 1. The Supreme Court took a single word of conflict... Sect. 102.111: "...all missing counties SHALL be ignored..." Sect. 102.112: "...such [late] returns MAY be ignored" ...and wrote EIGHT PAGES in its decision to explain in great detail why it decided that the MAY clause should be used, and the SHALL provision -- the one with the specific time of certification deadlines(!) -- was THROWN OUT. 2. Now with this new-found freedom, the need for a vote-counting deadline was suddenly erased. "Cool!", they say -- now the handcuffs are ...
  • Fla. Statutes Say it: Secretary Harris is the Boss!

FLA STATUE, TITLE IX, CHAPTER 97, "Qualification and Registration of Electors", Part 1 "General Provisions" 97.12 Secretary of State as chief election officer.--The Secretary of State is the chief election officer of the state, and it is his or her responsibility to: (1) Obtain and maintain uniformity in the application, operation, and ***interpretation*** of the election laws. (2) Provide uniform standards for the proper and equitable implementation of the registration laws. (3) Actively seek out and collect the data and statistics necessary to knowledgeably scrutinize the effectiveness of election laws. (4) Provide technical assistance to the supervisors of elections on ...
  • Will of the People MY FOOT

Yeah, Gore CURRENTLY leads Bush. But for that campaign to claim the Moral High Ground of letting the Will of the People prevail is preposterous!! NOTE THIS: 52% of the voting population voted Gore OUT.
  • There's No Legal Grounds for a FLA Re-Vote

    My Analysis mostly | alancarp
Discrepencies of not, I believe that the chance of actually having a formal re-vote -- in any Fla. county -- are almost zero. Here's a bunch of reasons why: 1. It is completely without precedent. There might be a judge or two willing to make that call, but based on the evidence at hand, there is no grounds. The courts are VERY reluctant to permit the people a new date to "change their minds." But it IS possible to 'judge shop' in Fla. (I've seen it in the context of abortion protest injunctions). HEAR ME WELL ON THIS ONE: 2. ...
