U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus says the governor of Texas should coordinate with the federal government before busing migrants to Washington, D.C. His remarks follow an order from Governor Greg Abbott to provide buses to take willing migrants already released by federal agencies and transport them to the nation’s capital. “Governor Abbott is taking actions to move migrants without adequately coordinating with the federal government and local border communities,” Commissioner Magnus said in a written statement Thursday afternoon. “CBP has always worked closely with and supported border communities in Texas, many of which CBP personnel call home.”...

35 Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said Wednesday on FNC’s “Special Report” that Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is using a “publicity stunt” by bussing migrants to Washington, DC. Abbott sent busses chartered by the Texas Department of Emergency Management, carrying South and Central American migrants to the Capitol Hill office building, which houses the Washington, DC bureaus of NBC News, C-SPAN and Fox News.

Abbott said he’s responding to the Biden administration announcement that it will lift a pandemic-era emergency health order that allowed immigration authorities to turn away migrants at the border, even those seeking asylum.

The Howard County, Maryland, school board voted to implement a massive, 1970s-style busing program Thursday, despite overwhelming opposition. After one vote failed, members went into a back room, and when they came out, one of the members who voted “no” was crying. They did a do-over and she changed her vote. Board member Jennifer Mallo lectured to constituents who voiced displeasure, saying it was a “privilege” that they got to witness the meeting, admonishing them not criticize her on social media, and complaining about her salary. California Sen. Kamala Harris got into a testy exchange with former Vice President Joe Biden at the first Democratic presidential debate on Thursday over racial issues. “You know, there was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bussed to school every day and that little girl was me,” Harris told Biden.
