The Danish government is currently pushing to free some stores, restaurants, and petrol stations from accepting cash payments as Britain was testing last year in Manchester. After tapping into solar, wind, geothermal and now natural gas resources on post, Fort Knox has become the first U.S. military installation to go “off the grid.” The installation announced Wednesday it added 28 natural gas wells to its arsenal of energy-creating sources which already includes almost 6,000 geothermal wells, two wind turbines and 3.59 megawatts of solar panels. The Teamsters have begun informing retirees and current workers that their pension benefits may soon be cut, the final ironic twist to a lobbying campaign that saw the union spend its own members' dollars to win the right to shrink their retirement pay. The somber notifications began going out from the Teamsters Central States Health and Welfare Pension Fund this spring, a decision that could ultimately affect 410,000 current pension participants and a total of more than 10 million U.S. workers nationwide. FBI Director James Comey fired back on Wednesday at Silicon Valley companies that are calling for stronger encryption of their products.
