WASHINGTON — President Biden acknowledged Monday at a Memorial Day event that his late son Beau died from brain cancer and not while at war — 11 days after he wrongly told US troops in Japan that his son died “in Iraq.” Biden told the grieving families of war dead at Arlington National Cemetery that his son didn’t die on the “battlefield” but that he believes his cancer may have been caused by exposure to toxic fumes from “burn pits” during a nearly yearlong deployment.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), in a bizarre display during President Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address, stood up and awkwardly rubbed her hands in glee as the president spoke about the dangers American troops have faced, breathing in toxic smoke from “burn pits.” During that last line, the 81-year-old Democrat formed her hands into the shape of fists, stood up, smiled at Biden, and rubbed her hands together in a gleeful manner before awkwardly sitting back down and contorting her mouth to the right — one of her infamous trademarks — as she continued to look adoringly at...

The decision marks a victory for the nearly 64,000 active service members and retirees who have put their names on a Burn Pit Registry created by the Veterans Administration, bringing them one step closer to getting adequate medical coverage, something that has never been guaranteed. Private contractors who were also exposed to the burn pit toxins also have been denied coverage.

The Silver Star Families of America's mission has been and continues to be directed toward our wounded, injured and ill troops and veterans.
