U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam on Friday night delivered a massive blow to President Donald Trump's plan to reallocate funds from the Defense Department to construct the highly-anticipated wall along America's southern border. Judge Gilliam, an Obama appointee, turned his previous temporary injunction into a permanent injunction, which barred the Trump administration from building the wall in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. President Trump declared a national emergency this year and redirected $6 billion from the Defense Department's various projects to build the border wall. Friday's ruling specifically blocks the administration from using $2.5 billion in military funds...

The installation of 11 new miles of border wall began on Thursday in Calexico, California. The project includes the construction of 30-foot tall steel bollards and what the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency says are technology improvements... The construction start for this project was announced earlier this month, along with the new border wall project in Tecate, California. Construction for both of these projects, which total approximately 15 miles, is anticipated to continue into 2020 and are funded under a 2018 appropriation separate from President Trump's National Emergency Declaration.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is pledging to force a vote on President Trump's $4.5 billion request for emergency border money, regardless of whether or not they get a deal with Democrats. McConnell told Fox News's "Fox & Friends" during an interview on Monday that he was planning to bring up a "freestanding" deal in an effort to force Democrats to go on the record either supporting or blocking the request for humanitarian aid legislation. "I'm going to bring it up freestanding next week and see if they really aren't interested in dealing with this massive humanity that we have...

The Trump administration is facing growing complaints from migrants about severe overcrowding, meager food and other hardships at border holding centers, with some people at an encampment in El Paso being forced to sleep on the bare ground during dust storms. The Border Network for Human Rights issued a report Friday based on dozens of testimonials of immigrants over the past month and a half, providing a snapshot of cramped conditions and prolonged stays in detention amid a record surge of migrant families coming into the U.S. from Central America. The report comes a day after an advocate described finding...

In the last hours of the Obama administration’s time in office, staffers at Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed hundreds of speeches and testimonies dating back to 2004 from the agency’s website, according to a watchdog group. The transcripts contained “prepared remarks submitted to congressional committees, often on controversial topics like the standard of medical treatment for detainees, treatment of unaccompanied children, sanctuary cities, drug trafficking, and E-Verify,” according to the Sunlight Foundation’s Web Integrity Project. The group says they were removed between the early afternoon of January 18 and late evening of January 19 in 2017, mere hours before the...

The pro-mass immigration Koch brothers’ network of billionaire, donor-class organizations is readying to financially back Democrats, so long as they promise to support amnesty for illegal aliens and vote to advance free trade at all costs. In a memo to its staff, the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity (AFP) organization announced that the economic libertarian group is set to back any elected official in Washington, DC, — including Democrats — who support their agenda of amnesty for illegal aliens and endless free trade, and oppose the GOP voter-preferred economic nationalist agenda of less immigration and tariffs to protect American jobs. The...

Whatever the ultimate outcome of President Trump’s conflict with Mexico, one consequence is already clear. He has undermined one of the most impressive U.S. foreign policy achievements of the past three decades. Mexico used to be a reflexively anti-American country, radical and resentful toward its powerful neighbor to the north. But starting in the 1990s, through the careful efforts of leaders on both sides of the border, that changed. Until Trump came along.

The colossal weight of decades of congressional failure has landed in the tiny border town of Sunland Park, N.M., a bit west of El Paso, Texas. It arrived, seemingly overnight, in the form of tons of steel and whole lot of hype. Mayor Javier Perea barely had time to blink. In the span of a week, national and international press descended. And a ribbon cutting was held on May 30 for what was billed as the nation’s first privately built border wall. A GoFundMe account raised the money through the donations of more than 300,000 people giving an average of...

A group of Trump supporters has begun building the first privately constructed US-Mexico border wall after a crowd-funding campaign. US military veteran Brian Kolfage posted a picture of the steel fence going up in the state of New Mexico. He said it was being erected with more than $22m (£17m) in donations he raised through an online campaign last year. The fundraiser was launched as Congress refused President Donald Trump funding for his signature campaign promise. For months the liberal media mocked “We Build the Wall” founder and organizer Brian Kolfage and his plan to use private donations to help build the much-needed security wall between the US and Mexico. Brian raised over $20 million in private donations from over 260,000 individuals to build a border wall on the US southern border.... The section of wall “We Build the Wall” focused on closes a half mile gap that existed for years between the end of the El Paso, Texas border wall and Mount Cristo Rey. The gap is across from the Mexican city of Juarez. Currently,...

BARCELONA, Spain — In what might be seen as a Memorial Day gift to President Trump, residents of a mountain range outside of El Paso today woke up to a new vista—a mile-long wall of metal slats constructed along the border with Mexico that just shot up over the weekend. The secret project, which started on Friday evening and was completed by Monday morning, was the work of We Build the Wall, a new group whose director is the former White House strategist Steve Bannon. The CEO is Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage, who had raised $20 million to build...

President Trump on Saturday ripped into what he described as an “activist Obama appointed judge” after a federal judge blocked the administration’s plan to reallocate money to building a wall on the southern border with Mexico. “Another activist Obama appointed judge has just ruled against us on a section of the Southern Wall that is already under construction,” he said. “This is a ruling against Border Security and in favor of crime, drugs and human trafficking.” Trump went on to say that the administration is asking for “an expedited appeal.” U.S District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam’s ruling late Friday temporarily...

A U.S. judge on Thursday sharply challenged a House lawsuit to block construction of President Trump’s border wall after a senior Justice Department attorney said Congress cannot sue to enforce its constitutional power of the purse and that courts should stay out of political disputes between branches of government. The Democratic-led House filed suit in Washington on April 5 to prevent work after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accused the administration of “stealing from appropriated funds” by seeking to transfer $6.7 billion more for the effort than the $1.375 billion Congress approved, a shift of money from other projects lawmakers authorized....

President Trump is set to unveil an immigration plan that would vastly change who is allowed into the United States. Trump will present the plan in a speech from the White House Rose Garden Thursday afternoon. The new plan would focus on reducing family-based immigration to the U.S. in favor of employment-skill-based immigration.

President Donald Trump announced a broad plan to reform border security and legal immigration during a speech on Thursday afternoon, but the proposal faces an uphill battle for consensus even among the Republican Party's own ranks. And Democrats are sure to oppose it as it fails to address key issues. Trump said the plan provides a "clear contrast" with other proposals he's deemed unsatisfactory. "Democrats are proposing open borders, lower wages, and frankly, lawless chaos," he said in the Rose Garden. "We are proposing an immigration plan that puts the jobs, wages and safety of American workers first." "Our proposal...

The U.S.-Mexico border wall is getting built, President Donald Trump often claims. Construction is happening, he says, in spite of reluctance from Congress. And lately, Trump has attached a recurring figure to illustrate how far along he’s come on his big promise. "You see the hell we are going through trying to get the wall," he said in Panama City Beach, Fla. "We’re going to have over 400 miles of wall built, much of it is already started, by the end of next year, and we’ll conclude it pretty shortly thereafter. We’ll have the whole thing sealed up and it...
