In this episode of “The State of the Union” NBPC Vice President Shawn Moran reports that Border Patrol Agents in Texas are being ordered to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent and are being ordered to release “illegal aliens” into the communities where they are working.

Two brothers who worked as Border Patrol agents were sentenced to at least 30 years in prison each for smuggling hundreds of immigrants into the United States, crimes that the judge termed a threat to national security. U.S. District Court Judge John Houston sentenced Raul Villarreal on Friday to 35 years in prison for being the ring leader and ordered him to pay a $250,000 fine. His brother, Fidel Villarreal, was sentenced to 30 years for managing the illicit business. The sentences are among the longest given to border law enforcement officials for corruption.
  • Closure of Border Patrol stations across four states triggers alarm

The Obama administration is moving to shut down nine Border Patrol stations across four states, triggering a backlash from local law enforcement, members of Congress and Border Patrol agents themselves. Critics of the move warn the closures will undercut efforts to intercept drug and human traffickers in well-traveled corridors north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, the coverage areas still see plenty of illegal immigrant activity -- one soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is...

A move by the Obama administration to close nine Border Patrol stations over four states has spurred outrage from local officials, members of Congress — even Border Patrol agents. Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, critics say closing them will undercut anti-immigration efforts in busy areas north of the U.S.-Mexico border, Fox News reports. The stations are being targeted for closure so U.S. Customs and Border Protection can reassign agents to busier areas closer to the border. One of the affected stations is in Riverside, Calif., just outside Los Angeles. -snip-...

A U.S. Border Patrol agent shot and killed a man Tuesday night near Sells on the Tohono O'odham Nation. Initial reports indicate that the agent shot and killed a man who was assaulting another agent, said the Border Patrol in an emailed statement. The shooting occurred at 8 p.m. The citizenship of the man who was shot has not yet been determined, the statement said. The agency said it "regrets the loss of life" and that it is fully cooperating with the investigation led by Tohono O'odham Police and the FBI.

Border Patrol agents pursue smugglers one moment and sit around in boredom the next. It was during one of the lulls that Bryan Gonzalez, a young agent, made some comments to a colleague that cost him his career. Stationed in Deming, N.M., Mr. Gonzalez was in his green-and-white Border Patrol vehicle just a few feet from the international boundary when he pulled up next to a fellow agent to chat about the frustrations of the job. If marijuana were legalized, Mr. Gonzalez acknowledges saying, the drug-related violence across the border in Mexico would cease. He then brought up an organization...

We all remember the embarrassing list of presidential pardons that finalized Bill Clinton’s legacy of sleaze. It was a tawdry list of 145 drug dealers, income tax evaders and the notorious Marc Rich, who fled the United States in the midst of his trial on charges of making oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis. Clinton also pardoned corrupt former Rep. Dan Rostenkowski (18 terms, 17 indictments) and his own cokehead brother, Roger Clinton. Since taking office, George W. Bush has issued 113 pardons, but there are four more he needs to add to his list.

.....But Sutton wasn’t on Fox to address the House of Death. In fact, Sutton has refused to comment publicly on that case... strange seeing him make an appearance on national TV to address another case that has caused quite a stir in the conservative blogosphere. ... a prosecution carried out by Sutton’s office that was brought to national attention by Lou Dobbs of CNN. Sutton’s appearance was an effort to spin the story in his favor. .... found it very fascinating, given that Sutton has refused to talk to Narco News (or any other media for that matter) about the...

Naco Border Patrol agents were pinned down by automatic weapon fire from cowardly assailants in Mexico on Tuesday, February 18th. The agents, who were pinned down for 5 to 7 minutes, were not injured and were unable to return fire. The shooting took place in broad daylight and the shooters knew exactly who they were shooting at. After the assailants left the area, they fired on other Border Patrol agents nearby. Hundreds of shell casings were reportedly scattered about area after the shootings. More to follow.
