Rep. Todd Akin's controversial comments about rape and abortion aren't just for Missourians to mull in their Senate race -- they're typical of a mindset that pervades and perverts the entire GOP, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer said Tuesday. "It's deeper than one Republican congressman -- it goes all the way to the top of the Republican ticket," she said. "The truth is there's a war against women, and it's not going to end until we all say at the polls, 'That's not the country we want.'" Boxer, D-Calif., used her previously scheduled speech to Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte at...

Mandatory "Event Data Recorders" will even know you're speeding in reverse. After a certain point, it's not paranoia. The latest brick in the wall is the predictably named "Moving Ahead For Progress in the 21st Century Act," also known as Senate Bill 1813. (See here for the full text of the bill itself; the relevant section is 31406.) This legislation -- already passed by the Senate and likely to be passed by the House -- will impose a legal requirement that all new cars made beginning with the 2015 models be fitted with so-called Event Data Recorders (EDRs). These are...

Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state -including Maine- even comes close. When it comes to sending Left-wing dingbats to Washington... we're #1. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'. The four of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab....

It was supposed to be a hearing about the Environmental Protection Agency’s requested 2013 budget, but Obama’s energy policies still managed to take center stage for a time at a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing Thursday. During opening statements at the hearing, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) traded jabs over President Obama’s energy production numbers until Boxer, also the committee chairwoman, banged her gavel to put an end to the conversation. Full transcript: SEN. BARBARA BOXER: So all this talk about how the president is against this is incorrect. He is for...

REDDING, Calif. -- After Redding Police were forced to kill two dogs Friday night, a Northstate family is now offering two puppies to console the family. Patricia Daniels said she knows how hard it is to lose a puppy so she wanted to help out, donating two pups. One is a cha-weenie; that's a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix. The other is a Chihuahua-Pomeranian-Zoolo mix. Patricia said two girl dogs will be ready next week and there's a boy dog who'll be ready in about a month. The dogs that were killed were a pregnant chihuahua and an 8 month old boxer. The...

Senator Boxer warned yesterday that if the HHS contraception mandate was repealed it would set a dangerous precedence of religious rights trumping the right to be insured. On MSNBC's Politics Nation with Al Sharpton last night, Boxer affirmed that under the proposed amendment proposed by Sen. Roy Blunt, an employer would not be forced by the government to pay for medical practices against his religion. "I mean, are they serious? Sharpton exclaimed, "How do you make a law where an employer can decide his own religious beliefs violate your right to be insured?" "Oh Absolutely," Boxer said,

Barbara Boxer has taken to the pages of the Huffington Post to explain why the administration’s mandate that all insurers provide birth control, including drugs that induce abortion, advances rather than restricts, religious freedom. If you like Orwell’s Newspeak, Boxer’s writing is a thing of beauty and will certainly be a joy forever as a model of obfuscation and deceit. I think it deserves a nice fisking, I really do:

Yesterday in the Huffington Post, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., taught us an important lesson: Health care can be free! For example, she wrote, “When President Obama announced that because of health care reform, birth control would soon be available for free in new insurance plans, you would have expected universal approval.” She also wrote, “Finally, (Obama’s) decision will help working families by giving them access to free birth control.”

Some residents at Danville Park Apartments are outraged over police firing at two dogs on the walkway outside their front doors. The residents said the shooting killed one animal, injured another and put the tenants in danger of gunfire that left bullet holes in doors, walls and a wooden deck around 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Witness accounts of the shootings contradict the reports of officers and a supervising sergeant. The shootings by officers Demetrius Hightower and Jarrod Birchfield are being reviewed by Decatur Police’s office of professional standards, police spokesman Lt. John Crouch said. Danville Park resident Steven...

"They have attached a poison pill -- literally, colleagues -- because it will kill 8,100 more people more than would have otherwise been killed from pollution," Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cali.) said on the Senate floor today about Republicans trying to roll back a Clean Air Act provision. [Snip] "So have that for a Christmas gift," Boxer said after she scared people with the 8,100 number.

Sen. Boxer: GOP bill will kill 8,100 AmericansBy C.J. Ciaramella | The Daily Caller – 17 hrs ago **SNIP** “They have attached a poison pill — literally, colleagues — because it will kill 8,100 more people more than would have otherwise been killed from pollution,” Boxer said. “They attach that to the payroll tax cut. So have that for a Christmas gift.” “We have asked for a lot from Santa in our day but we have never asked for lead, arsenic and mercury,” Boxer concluded.

Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) blasted skeptics of climate science Wednesday, alleging they are “endangering humankind.” “The message I have for climate deniers is this: you are endangering humankind,” Boxer said during a press conference in the Capitol. “It is time for climate deniers to face reality, because the body of evidence is overwhelming and the world’s leading scientists agree.” Boxer criticized skeptics of climate science, alleging they are standing in the way of significant progress toward lowering greenhouse gas emissions both domestically and internationally. “Wishing that climate change will go away by clinging to...

California Sen. Barbara Boxer won rare praise from Republicans Wednesday for unanimously passing an overhaul of federal highway programs bill out of her committee. Boxer, a liberal Democrat who chairs the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, worked hand-in-hand with conservative Oklahoma Republican James Inhofe to consolidate 90 federal highway programs into 30, grant states more flexibility in spending highway money and expand a pilot program to leverage taxpayer money with private investment. The two-year, $84 billion bill has no earmarks for pet projects and aims to offset all new spending with trims in other areas of the government. The...

Just a You Tube I saved that I just came across once again. It had me laughing. In these times, laughter could be our best medicine. Also reminded me of Cain's sense of humor, in which I greatly appreciate.

September 27, 2011 (HLIWorldWatch.org) - Senator Barbara Boxer is in a tough situation: she thinks there are too many children in the developing world, she thinks abortion and contraception are the answer to this problem, and she has to try to convince the majority of Americans who are deeply offended by her views that she actually wants something good and just. So what’s a busy, far-left California Democrat supposed to do? It’s not as if she can just come out and say that the mothers of Asia, Africa and Latin America are having more children then she would prefer. There...

California Sen. Barbara Boxer declared war Wednesday on an effort by House Republicans to roll back environmental regulations, warning that blocking the plan in the Democratic-controlled Senate is no sure thing. The House is set to vote Friday on legislation that would delay an Environmental Protection Agency rule to require 27 states that rely heavily on coal-fired electricity generation to reduce power-plant emissions that drift into other states, and another rule that would limit mercury and other pollution from coal-fired plants. Both rules would step up enforcement of the 1970 Clean Air Act. House GOP leaders plan weekly votes throughout...

With the East Coast earthquake still a fresh memory, lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pushing a bill designed to cut rates so more homeowners can afford quake insurance coverage, but the scope of the plan remains a big question mark with critics arguing that California would be the big winner at the expense of the rest of the nation. The nonprofit California Earthquake Authority is pushing the “Earthquake Insurance Affordability Act” that it says would cut rates by as much as 20 percent for homeowners. It also could leave the federal government on the hook for up to $5 billion...

Barbara Boxer: I hope greens sue President Obama By: Darren Goode September 7, 2011 09:01 AM EDT Senate Environment and Public Works Chairwoman Barbara Boxer said she hopes green groups sue President Barack Obama over his decision to punt a regulation curbing smog-creating emissions until at least 2013. Boxer — whose relatively mild reaction to Obama’s surprise announcement Friday was in contrast to heated rebukes by environmental groups — said she will stand by those groups in any litigation to force the administration to issue a final ozone rule that goes beyond what was enacted by President George W. Bush....
