EVA SHOCKEY HAS BECOME the face of women in the hunting movement, and that is a big deal. There have been exactly two women to grace the cover of Field & Stream magazine in the last 100 years: the first lady was Queen Elizabeth; the second Eva Shockey. A Walloon Lake man was injured Saturday night, Oct. 9, in his treestand when he was attacked by a female black bear and her three cubs in Bear Creek Township in Emmet County, according to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Richard Cochran, 45, of Greenwich was arrested Sunday, a day on which state law prohibits hunting, authorities of the state Department of Environmental Protection said.
