According to reports, Biden has chosen Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as Secretary of Labor. Walsh, a former president of his city’s building and construction trades council, was considered a favorite “top of labor leaders” like AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka for the role. Walsh’s personal ties with Biden, who spoke at his 2017 city inaugural, also likely helped him clinch the secretary of labor role. Trumka, back in 2019, told Politico: “He’s a friend and knows Joe: They’ve worked together on numerous occasions. We have the second one at Beth Israel Hospital in very serious condition," he said "And we don't know if we'll ever be able to question the individual." So far...

An unbylined Associated Press report (graphic saved here) appearing at ABC News (time-stamped 9:51 a.m. at the AP's main national site; graphic saved here) reports that Boston Mayor Tom Menino appeared on ABC's "This Week" and said, in the AP's words, that "the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing acted alone." The brief AP report's third paragraph then has Menino saying, again in AP's words, that "another person was taken into custody" after "a pipe bomb was found in another location." This apparent inconsistency seems to be an attempt by the mayor to minimize the degree of homegrown "sleeper cell"...
