Republican senatorial candidate Bob Keenan said Thursday there should be an end to the “birth tax’’ and accused Sen. Conrad Burns, R-Mont., of increasing taxes on college students and their parents. Keenan, on a road-trip campaign around Montana in an RV, said all the talk about ending the death tax is really meaningless when compared to the “birth tax,’’ the name he has given to the national debt that now stands at more than $8 trillion dollars. Keenan said every child born now inherits its individual birth tax of $30,000 — his or her portion of the national debt.

State lawmaker Bob Keenan says his primary campaign against incumbent Sen. Conrad Burns won't have much money and will mostly be built around a monthlong RV tour of Montana with his wife and children. Keenan said he expects to raise about $100,000 - compared to the millions Burns has in his campaign coffers. The well-known legislator from Bigfork said he won't have money for expensive media campaigns or a campaign staff. Instead, he plans to spend May shaking hands with people across the state, an “old-fashioned, grass-roots, power-of-one campaign.”

Voting and electing your representatives is the benchmark of a representative republic. Electing a U. S. Senator is the responsibility of the people of Montana and not a decision made by those in Washington D.C. With that in mind, I am humbly applying for the job as your U.S. Senator. As a husband, father, property owner, small businessman and elected state legislator, I am aware of the issues facing Montanans today. Here you will find information on these issues and the latest news and updates concerning my campaign for U.S. Senate. I hope as you browse the website you find...
