Prosecutors and an attorney for Jacob Carrizal have agreed to postpone the retrial of the Twin Peaks biker shootout defendant, which had been set for Sept. 10. In a joint motion for a continuance, Robert Moody, McLennan County first assistant district attorney, and Chris Lewis, Carrizal’s attorney, cite the volume of evidence Lewis needs more time to review, plus evidence federal prosecutors have agreed to share from the trial of two former Bandidos national leaders that both sides want to see. Lewis signed on to represent Carrizal, the Dallas Bandidos chapter president, shortly after Carrizal’s first trial ended in a...

The Twin Peaks case involving Hewitt resident Matthew Alan Clendennen was dismissed Monday by the special prosecutor who was appointed to try the case after the local district attorney stepped away from it. Brian M. Roberts, the attorney who was appointed to prosecute the Clendennen case, signed the dismissal form which states: “After reviewing all the facts, circumstances and evidence, it is the state’s position that no probable cause exists to believe the defendant committed the offense.” Roberts said the case was dismissed “with prejudice”, which means it cannot be re-called or re-filed and henceforth is moot. Clendennen and his...

Barry Johnson ousted two-term incumbent Abel Reyna as McLennan County district attorney, in a contentious race played out under the dark specter of the 2015 Twin Peaks shootout. Johnson, 61, who practiced personal injury law in Dallas for 30 years before moving back to McLennan County last year, got 10,347 votes for 59.9 percent of the vote to Reyna’s 6,930 for 40.1 percent.

At eight minutes after four yesterday afternoon, McLennan County, Texas District Attorney Abelino Reyna filed a motion to quash a hearing Monday at which he and three other members of his office – Michael Jarrett, Amanda Dillon and Heather Nering – have been subpoenaed to appear. The hearing was scheduled because Dallas Attorney Clint Broden intends to call Reyna as a witness in the trial of his client, former Scimitar Motorcycle Club member Matthew Clendennen. Broden thinks Reyna’s testimony may be impeachable. The Scimitars are a support club for the Cossacks Motorcycle Club. On May 17, 2015 Cossacks crashed a...
