Joel Vasquez Rojas, the mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, married the reptile – dressed in a white gown – at the city hall and then shared a dance in front of packed party of local residents. According to local tradition, the crocodile is a princess whose marriage to the town mayor will bring in an abundance of seafood for fisherman on the Pacific coast. ‘As young people, this means a lot,’ said local resident Eduardo Zarate 'It’s the greatest treasure our ancestors have left us.’ For safety, the crocodile’s jaw was wired shut for the day. ‘It is my wish...

The audience laughed at that point, video published by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger shows. Cochran’s facial expressions did not change, nor did his stance or demeanor. “I know some of you know what that is,” he continued. “The whole point of the story is not just coming here to visit cousins and get to know aunts and uncles better, you absorb the culture and you know what’s important to people here. I feel very comfortable here and have an identity with this area of the state that’s different than any other.”

Students at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota have cancelled an event to celebrate the end of the year after complaints that bringing a camel on campus could offend those of Middle Eastern cultures. The “Hump Day” event, put on by the Residence Hall Association (RHA), was supposed to be “a petting zoo type of atmosphere” in which students could hang out and take photos with a live camel. According to Aaron Macke, the group’s advisor, the camel is owned by a local vendor and trained for special events. But the event was subsequently cancelled after students took to...

A new law put into effect on Tuesday completely outlaws sexual intercourse with animals in Sweden. For the last 70 years, the penal code has avoided mention of bestiality, as the laws on animal cruelty were seen as adequate to cover such assault. Previous rules only prohibited sex with animals if it could be proved that the animal suffered mental or physical harm. The move was backed by Rural Affairs Minister Eskil Erlandsson who has long been behind a push to make bestiality illegal in Sweden. "There should be no doubt whatsoever that bestiality is unacceptable," he said in June....

Matt Lewis writes of the controversy over Duck Dynasty that "There really are two Americas" and that the divide over the show "has as much to do with class and geography and culture and attitude as it does with religion." That's true. Specifically, there's one America where comparing homosexuality to bestiality is considered acceptable, and another where it is rude and offensive. In one America, it's OK to say this of gays and lesbians: "They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent...

After certain press criticism and a productive online backlash in the blogosphere, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) is performing a gratifying volte-face in its use of the term sexual "orientation" for paedophilia. In its fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), the APA has distinguished between paedophilic disorder and paedophilic orientation. Paedophilia-advocacy groups, like B4U-ACT, a grassroots lobby group, have long seen the declassification of paedophilia to the status of an "orientation" for “minor-attracted persons" (MAPs) to be a necessary means to their ends. The North American Man-Boy Love Association (and numerous international affiliates advocating...

CAREFREE, Ariz. – Some parents of students at Cactus Shadows High School are outraged over a play that has students acting out sexual encounters with a goat, and using vulgar sexual expressions. Other parents of students in teacher Andrew Cupo’s advanced drama class believe the concerns are overblown, and resent parents who questioned their children about the sexually explicit play without their permission. Parents attended the governing board meeting for the Cave Creek Unified School District Tuesday and shared about two hours of public comment on the play “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?” by Edward Albee, which revolves around...

PORTERVILLE, Calif. — The mayor of Porterville did not give it much thought when a local gay activist in this remote Central Valley farming town asked her to proclaim June a month of gay pride. But when the mayor, Virginia R. Gurrola, settled into her seat at City Hall to sign the proclamation, people were pouring out of the chambers and into the hallways, citing Scripture in opposition to what she had thought of as a simple ceremonial gesture. Her four fellow City Council members announced they would not join her in signing the document. And as of last week,...

September 27, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Argentinean government is under fire for distributing “educational” literature with graphic nudity, rape scenes, and explicit bestiality to public schools throughout Argentina. “They contain explicit sex, drugs, and even zoophilia,” said Principal Osvaldo Calvente, from the Guillermo Villanueva School in Maipú, in the province of Mendoza. He was the first person to publicly denounce the books. “I decided to put them away immediately to keep them out of the student’s reach. This cannot, by any means belong in a school library,” he said. “It is my duty as the school’s principal.” One of the...

Rand Paul shook off an awkward comment comparing same-sex marriage to beastiality and made a trip Friday to the early primary state South Carolina in the early stages of a potential presidential campaign. The Kentucky senator, reacting to a comment from Glenn Beck wondering if the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the bulk of the Defense of Marriage Act could lead to legalized polygamy, Paul extended Beck's logic. "This is a conundrum, and it gets back to what you were saying… whether or not churches should decide this,” Paul said. “And it is difficult, because if we have no...

A convicted drug-runner and unapologetic advocate of zoophilia — sex between animals and humans — was warned by a federal judge on Friday that he’s flirting with violating the conditions of his prison release by having others post comments on the Internet on his behalf. Douglas Spink, 42, appeared before U.S. District Judge Ricardo Martinez in Seattle after concerns had been raised about Spink’s access to the Internet through third parties, including his mother. Spink allegedly had been having others post comments to websites affiliated with bestiality. Spink is living with his mother after being released from prison after serving...

A small group of men who engage in sexual activity with their pets gathered on Berlin's Potsdamer Platz earlier this year to protest a law ratified by the upper house of parliament, the Bundesrat, that bans bestiality. The lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, passed the legislation late last year as part of a comprehensive animal protection act that brings Germany in line with a European Union directive. German zoophiles now face fines of up to €25,000 for all forms of sex with animals. One of the protesters told the German newsmagazine The Local that a lobby group called ZETA...

The son of former president Ronald Reagan warns in an op-ed published Tuesday that legalizing gay marriage will lead to “polygamy, bestiality and perhaps even murder.” Michael Reagan, a political consultant, made the claims as he calls on church leaders to stand up and fight against same-sex marriage. … Legalizing same-sex marriages, he writes, “inevitably will lead to teaching our public school kids that gay marriage is a perfectly fine alternative and no different from traditional marriage.” … Reagan slams the Republican Party, saying party leaders are too preoccupied with the next presidential election to be concerned about the moral...

Liberals who demand church-state separation would pitch a fit if a public school decided to perform a play that reverently told stories of the Old Testament, whether it was the story of creation, the story of Noah, or Moses or Joseph and his brothers. But somehow, if a public school decides to put on a play mocking God and the Old Testament, that is not a church-state violation. The separation police don't want religious (or atheist) minorities to face religious indoctrination in a public school. But anti-religious indoctrination mocking the Judeo-Christian majority is a glorious festival of free speech. Take,...

There's been plenty of serious analysis of the Supreme Court's handling of the gay marriage cases before it. Maybe it's time for some comic relief . . Appearing on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show this evening, MSNBC contributor Jimmy Williams took issue with Justice Antonin Scalia's wondering whether if states can't prohibit gay marriage, they can ban bestiality. Describing himself as "a certified, organic homosexual," Williams declared "I have a dog, but I've never had sex with my dog." View the video here.
