The attacker of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, has been named by sources close to the investigation. The sources identified the suspect as Berkeley resident David Depape. San Francisco police said that at approximately 2:27 a.m. on Friday morning, officers responded to the 2600 block of Broadway in the Pacific Heights neighborhood for a reported home break-in. The suspect was taken into custody. According to the Associated Press, Mr. Pelosi was attacked with a hammer but was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, according to Drew Hammill, spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi....

A little more than a year ago, 2,000 antifa tried to shut down my speech at UC Berkeley, according to police on the scene. The Berkeley police chief had ordered her officers to stand outside the building like mute ninjas, and make no arrests, unless they personally witnessed a felony being committed in front of them. So barring a bank suddenly popping up on the sidewalk and an antifa attempting to rob it, I had no official protection from 2,000 violent, mentally disturbed thugs. Thank God I had the Proud Boys. There had been no warning of the antifa mobilization...

Former Vermont governor and Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean offered his flawed interpretation of the First Amendment last week during the Ann Coulter-Berkeley controversy. The school cancelled Coulter's scheduled appearance on campus after they decided the conservative speaker would create too dangerous of an environment. They then re-invited her, but rescheduled her speech. Coulter insists she's coming on the original date - this Thursday. Between all the back and forth, Dean defended Berkeley's initial decision to nix the speech, tweeting that "hate speech" is not protected by the Constitution. Putting aside the fact that Dean thinks conservatism amounts to hate speech, Guy explained just how wrong Dean was -...

Oak Grove Tree-Sit Anniversary ProtestBirthday party celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Memorial Oak Grove occupationBerkeley, December 2, 2007 In 2006, the University of California announced plans to build an athletic training center next to Memorial Stadium on the U.C. Berkeley campus. But the construction of the new building would entail the removal of several trees currently occupying the proposed site. A cry to "Save the trees!" spread throughout the local activist community, and a small protest movement quickly arose to stop the training center. Although everything the university does elicits some kind of protest, this one, as trivial as...

The closure of Cody's Books on Berkeley's Telegraph Avenue is the latest, and perhaps sharpest, blow to a famed but increasingly troubled area renowned for its intense pedestrian traffic, youth-oriented businesses, colorful street vendors and vagrants. Business owners, city leaders and UC Berkeley officials say things have hit a disturbing low on "The Ave,'' where the commercial vacancy rate is approaching 15 percent and last year's sales tax receipts were 30 percent below what they were in 1990 when adjusted for inflation - the sharpest decline of any business district in the city. ~snipCitywide, sales taxes dropped from about $13...
